Hi

I am projecting a bit here but at 60 think it is relevant.

Say in the future I need help in the form of the above, is my diagnosis from the Lorna Wing centre going to be ignored as it is not a Nhs one?

Anyone know? Thanks.

benefits are supposedly needs based, not diagnosis- you can theoretically get them without any diagnosis if you can prove you need the support. But they're pretty hopeless when it comes to understanding ASD!

Thanks Crohn. Just musing on the future.

I doubt you'd get anywhere tbh. They're cutting back on all kinds of disabilities and I think, if you're reasonably functional, there's no chance of dla Sad

Thanks Hidden. I was thinking very much into the future, having recently helped two elderly people with attendance allowance.

PS. One of them, an old lady, I am pretty certain she has gone through life with undiagnosed Autism. She was briefly diagnosed as schizophrenic many years ago but has been off the radar. A recluse except for getting food.

When I was talking to the psychologist, she told me that many women with asd end up diagnosed with bipolar, and men, with personality disorder.

It makes you wonder how much mental illness is actually a manifestation of neurodiversity.
