Do you have a child who plays computer games? NB by computer games we mean any video, internet or computer game played on a PC or Mac (e.g. Club Penguin, CBeebies games etc) or on a console like Microsoft Xbox and Xbox 360, Nintendo GameCube and Wii and Sony Playstation 2 and PS3. This does not include personal devices such as Nintendo DS/PSP.

If you do, please take a minute to complete this survey and have the chance to win £150 of vouchers for the store of your choice, plus £100 of computer games credit at Metaboli.

Thanks and good luck

dp had dd playing GTA4 yesterday he turned the sound down so she couldn't hear the swearing and told her she was 'borrowing' peoples cars

was very cute though, she has insanely good hand eye co-ordination and was so excited to be playing 'daddy's game'

ChopsTheDuck · 06/05/2009 14:23

Done. I have three addicts. 4yos have been on the wii and xbox since lunch and I really should turn it off, but it is so peaceful!

gibbberish · 06/05/2009 20:18

Done. The girls would love this! Wouldn't be so good for me though - yet more arguing over 'my turn on the computer'

Could always keep them for myself though!

We don't have computer games at all. My dd likes to go on Blue Peter and Roar on the pc which I allow. I also let her on BBC Bitesize and other educational games. ds likes Bob the Builder on the pc and again, I'll let him play on CBeebies every now and then.

But it's always with an adult around. I much prefer them to be using their imaginations and playing with physical toys or running around outside.

However I cannot deny that some games are educational. They help build up good response times, mouse control and familiarity with the keyboard as well as hand/eye coordination. But as other games also build up these skills, I limit their time on any computer game to around an hour a week. That's quite strict too, so I don't get mithered.
