We’re running this really short poll to find out what you think about the actions Dominic Cummings took (#cumgate!) in late Mar/early April. It shouldn’t take any longer than a couple of mins.

This survey is open to all UK MNers with at least 1 child.

photofit - you said it better than me.
I feel there is an unnecessary witch hunt by the media - which is completely undemocratic - they are not in charge of the country.
FWIW - I am sure there are more important issues
done the survey for now

Not one of the people berating Cummings have answered what they would do in the situation.

That is simply not true.

The two commonest answers are

a) just cope in situ, as so many people have already done when parent is ill (read many posts by lone parents in thus theme - you'll of course find fewer about two parent families where only one parent is symptomatic, but for those its usually worry about how to get a big shop in and how to move to b) if needed

b) find someone to come and collect the child and care for them for as long as required.

In this case it would have meant that the family member who they say had agreed to take in the child, also had to do the driving. Normally onewouid feel a bit uncomfortable asking for that on top of the childcare. But in these circumstances people are doing it gladly. Or at least they were, when they believed we were all in it together.

Driving over 250 miles was hardly an easy option. Kinder to the child though than setting up emergency child care with a stranger at short notice

False dicholtomy.

And yet nobody has complained about Ian Blackford travelling to and from his constituency partly by ferry

Whilst he should have been in household symptomatic isolation?

You're right, I can see no sign any story about him failing to comply wirhnnirmal isolation rules. Can you link source? Or better still, start a new thread including source?

And explaining how, like Scotland's CMO, a senior SAGE scientist, and PM's adviser he is closely involved in informing or deciding lockdown policy

NudgeUnit · 27/05/2020 08:53

on the facts of the case, assuming he is telling the truth, I can't see that he has done anything out of order.

TLDR, but this is the point where you went wrong (twice) @PhotoFit.

Actually Preston tried to ask Matt Hancock what he did when both he and his wife had CV. He said he had childcare available. But moved on before he could be asked if he used it.

But Cummings admits he didnt even investigate local options.

And surely someone using a ferry for work is within the rules if they could work from home?
