We've been asked by Specsavers to find out what Mumsnetters' opinions are on all things eyes.

The survey is open to all UK Mumsnetters who have at least one child aged from 2nd birthday to 12 years.

Does question 14 really need to have radio buttons? DS1 uses both, but I can only select one of the options.

I entered too ! Made me think a bit , and brought keeping an eye on their eyesight into focus a bit !

With DP being blind we are very aware about the need to get tested early in our house :)

Done, think I've done ok as a specs wearer who was missed until age 10 I've been on my kids case to check they can see. Glad I did DS now 16 had something the optician had never seen and we ended up at eye hospital with him and his funny eye.

Done, Q4 kept resetting to automatic order of 1,2,3,4,5! Everytime I selected a number it just reset to this so I gave up on that question! I am on an iphone.

Done, but I found some of the questions badly worded, especially the laptops/computers one. I also wanted to say that I think getting sight, hearing and teeth checked are equally important, but that wasn't an option. And why are "ears" and "hearing" listed separately?

I got muddled by the question about whether DC had been checked by an optician - here they are checked in hospital by an ophthalmologist (? I think) at 4. I don't know if that is considered different.

I was the same for question 12 MrsHathaway. Ds has never had an eye test at an optician although he wears glasses so ticked no. His are checked regularly at the hospital instead as he was a prem baby so they call him back every year.

Same here. Dd1 and dts all wear glasses but have their eyes tested at the hospital. I'm assuming the surveyors will take the 'no' to opticians and 'yes' to glasses to be a given that they are therefore under the hospital eye department.

Im in scotland where they test kids eyes in nursery/pre school but there was no option for that!

For the question regarding hearing and ears, I'm assuming they meant a visual check of the ears, against and aural check of the hearing. Just a guess though

Why did I have to choose a rating system for importance for eyes ears and teeth etc?

I consider it important to get all 3 checked, and consider getting IQ checked as irrelevant.

Why do I have to put them in order of importance?

technically, an optician is trained to fit and sell glasses, and an optometrist is the person who checks eye sight. (according to the vocab dd was working on this week!)
