We have been asked to find out your views on and experiences of the preparation you may do before you have a baby and about those first few months with a baby.

The survey is open to all Mumsnetters in the UK who have had a baby in the last three years. Everyone who takes part will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £200 John Lewis voucher.

If you have had more than one baby in the past three years, please think about your most recent baby when completing the survey, as we want to hear about your most recent experiences.

Please click here to complete the survey.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Done. V odd survey though, and I couldn't really answer properly - DS in NICU for 5 weeks, at v high temps and we had to heat the house/room he was in to 22 deg C for the first week he was home, then wean him down to normal temps over the following month. So we did do a bunch of checks but those were mostly around checking cold spots. Also we'd only had our heating & boiler fitted the month before he (unexpectedly & 2 months early) arrived.

What strange questions.

Anyone want to bet that an energy company starts targeting pregnant women with "are you sure your baby won't freeze in the middle of the night"?

breatheslowly · 23/11/2011 22:13

It is a little like the "are you scared of rice" survey.

Shenanagins · 23/11/2011 22:18

Bit confused by this as there wasn't an option of "not necessary." I was pregnant over the winter so knew the heating/hot water worked as it was on all the time so it wasn't even a consideration.

Done, is an odd survey but my DD was due 14th Dec last year and our heating was really erratic. Our house has vaulted celings too and gets very cold so I was worried about bringing DD home to a tempermental house. We'd only been there just under a year (renting from FIL who assured us all checks were done before we moved in....) but got it checked and found that all the copper pipes had erroded and were millimetres away from breaking and flooding the house. Worst area hit would have been the nursery.
I want to look at the electrics next... Hmm
