See what Mumsnet testers thought of Mia & Ben fresh organic baby and toddler food

This is the feedback thread for the 150 Mumsnet users who have been testing newly launched baby and toddler food from Mia & Ben.

Here’s what Karina, Co-founder at Mia & Ben has to say: “Mia & Ben has all of the taste, vitamins and colour preserved because what we don’t do, unlike other companies, is use heat to preserve our food as it destroys all of the natural vitamins and flavour. Instead, we use pressure (technical term: High Pressure Processing) to keep the vitamins and taste locked in. We're very excited to see what you think about our new kids' food!"

Selected testers picked up three flavours of Mia & Ben fresh baby and toddler food from the fridge aisle in Sainsbury’s, and tried them with their child.

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the following questions as well as sharing any other thoughts you have. Please also ensure you complete the short survey we’ve emailed to you.

  1. What did you like most about Mia & Ben baby and toddler food?
  2. What was your child’s favourite flavour?
  3. What is important to you when buying kids snacks?
  4. What flavour of Mia & Ben would you like to see next?

All who give their feedback via both the thread and survey will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

  1. What did you like most about Mia & Ben baby and toddler food?
I like the fact they are chilled rather than a store cupboard variety as there aren't as many fresh products available. They're very convenient from pouch to spoon amd handy to travel with. They're not messy or fiddly to prepare and just the right size portions. I also like the nutritional benefits of them and knowing my child is getting what they need. They're good value, good for baby and fuss free. Knowing they're created by dieticians and contain vitamins and natural sugars rather than processed really appeals to me.
  1. What was your child’s favourite flavour?
Definitely the sweet potato, pear, squash and beetroot she really enjoyed it.
  1. What is important to you when buying kids snacks? Knowing they're healthy, nutritious and full of vitamins is important as is natural sugars, unprocessed foods.
  2. What flavour of Mia & Ben would you like to see next?
I'd really like to see more savoury flavours packed with veggies, vegan ones and maybe a strawberry and rasberry flavour.

Same reaction for all three - guzzled the lot. Surprising as he doesn’t always go for shop bought purées.

Healthy ingredients, low salt/sugar.
  1. What flavour of Mia & Ben would you like to see next?

  1. What did you like most about Mia & Ben baby and toddler food?
Being chilled it gave the impression of bro g healthier than a regular pouch and with fewer preservatives.
  1. What was your child’s favourite flavour?
The mango one as it was sweeter and bridged the gap between sweet and savoury.
  1. What is important to you when buying kids snacks?
Price, appeal and healthiness. I don’t want to spend masses on snacks as I prefer to make my own but do use store bought snack for convenience at times. I prefer not to spend too much on an untried product incase DC don’t like it. As I try to make most of DC snacks and food from scratch i try to go for the healthiest and least mucked about with.
  1. What flavour of Mia & Ben would you like to see next?
Maybe a berry type one? I would use it as a kix for frozen lollies or yoghurt. Or a cheese based one for extra proteins.

  1. What did you like most about Mia & Ben baby and toddler food?
Psychologically it felt like it must be “better” because it was in the fridge section and so seemed fresher? The flavour combo’s were good and the children liked them.
  1. What was your child’s favourite flavour?
The tropical one- mango/pineapple etc.
  1. What is important to you when buying kids snacks?
No added stuff/preservatives. I like the more exotic flavours too as it means they’re tasting them without me having to buy a giant pineapple! Cost is still important though so I wouldn’t rely on these as it would be an expensive way of feeding them.

Hi ladies, I wanted to check as I’m super paranoid being a first time mum. I am around 5-8weeks (not 100% until first scan) but I think I’m suffering with morning sickness. I’m not actually vomiting but I feel weak and can’t do much during the day. I can’t eat much either. Does anyone else feel weak when they had morning sickness. Is this a part of being nautious?
