This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users with a young child, who tested Mum & You products. Testers were asked to test the following products with their child:

  • Mum & You Nappychat Nappies
  • Mum & You 100% Biodegradable Wipes
  • Mum & You New Baby Safe & Sound Hair & Body Wash

Here’s what Mum & You have to say:
“Mum & You puts supporting Mums and their children at the heart of everything they do.
Our team of almost 20 mums (and a few dads!) have put their baby brains together to create the products we wanted for our own children. From biodegradable baby wipes that don’t compromise on convenience, to skincare you can apply using one hand at slippery bathtimes! Not bad for a team that hasn’t slept since 2016…

Supporting mums with every purchase:
For every subscription sold, we donate a pack of eco-nappies to the Hygiene Bank. Since we launched in 2017, we’ve donated essential hygiene products to families via Save the Children, The Trussell Trust food banks and various refugee charities.

100% biodegradable and eco-friendly:
M&Y baby wipes are made of plant fibres. They’re plastic free and biodegrade in just 15 days, meaning today’s sticky mess won’t be a problem for tomorrow’s generation. Our eco-nappies are made using wood pulp from certified sustainable forestry and contain no added dyes or lotions. We’re kind to the planet, and your baby’s bum!

  1. Which Mum & You product did you like best and why?

I loved the nappies, they were really stretchy, flexible and seemed comfortable.
No leaks! All round a very good nappy and we would definitely consider purchasing these.

  2. Describe the softness of the Mum & You nappychat nappies you tried.

Super soft, good stretch and seemed gentle on the skin.

  3. What did you like best about the designs on the nappies?

Cute and a bit of fun.

  4. How did you feel about the fact that the Mum & You wipes are 100% biodegradable?

Really good, every small step to minimise our waste is a bonus. Felt a lot less guilty using these.

  5. What did you like best about the Mum & You Hair & Body Wash? Please think about smell, ease of use, the feel of your baby's skin after, suitability for newborns, and the fact it is hypoallergenic

I liked the pump - it was really easy to dispense and use on the hair and body. Liked the feel of the foam and skin seemed soft after using, no reactions. Didn’t notice much of a smell which is good as I don’t like anything overpowering

  1. Which Mum & You product did you like best and why?

The nappies as they were soft and not as bulky as other eco nappies I’ve tried, and did as good a job in preventing leaks as my regular brand of nappies.

  2. Describe the softness of the Mum & You nappychat nappies you tried.

    They felt very soft!

  3. What did you like best about the designs on the nappies?

They were sweet - though a little too cutesy for my taste perhaps, and did mean that the wetness indicator wasn’t as easy to see particularly on the grey nappies.

  4. How did you feel about the fact that the Mum & You wipes are 100% biodegradable?

I really liked this - I normally have reusable wipes at home and disposable wipes when out and about, so having biodegradable wipes would make me feel less guilty about this!

  5. What did you like best about the Mum & You Hair & Body Wash? Please think about smell, ease of use, the feel of your baby's skin after, suitability for newborns, and the fact it is hypoallergenic

I liked the pump which was easy to use, and the scent was very light.

I have left a neutral review for the nappies on the survey. The reason for this is I asked for size 2 nappies as our regular ones go up to 18lb so was a little surprised to see these only went up to 13lb. Obviously this is my fault for not checking but we had a few leaks and poop explosions but I am not sure if this was due to incorrect size. Having said that the tapes did nearly meet in the middle

  1. Which Mum & You product did you like best and why?
The wash. It smelt nice and was good to know it's kind to skin

  2. Describe the softness of the Mum & You nappychat nappies you tried.
They felt very soft. But DS did have a sore patch which has gone now we've gone back to our regular nappies. Not sure if this is related or not
  3. What did you like best about the designs on the nappies?
They were nice but as with all things which are not "on show" such as vests etc I do find it slightly unnecessary

  4. How did you feel about the fact that the Mum & You wipes are 100% biodegradable?
Obviously good to know we are reducing our carbon footprint in any way

  5. What did you like best about the Mum & You Hair & Body Wash? Please think about smell, ease of use, the feel of your baby's skin after, suitability for newborns, and the fact it is hypoallergenic
Really easy to use whilst bathing a wriggly baby

  1. Which Mum & You product did you like best and why?
I love the wipes as it has a lot of moisture and it did not irritate at all my baby's skin

  2. Describe the softness of the Mum & You nappychat nappies you tried.
Are very flexible and gentle on the baby's bottom. It feels like feathers

  3. What did you like best about the designs on the nappies?
I like the best the edges thighs edges as it keeps the baby dry even when she is very active.

  4. How did you feel about the fact that the Mum & You wipes are 100% biodegradable?
I could not be happier as I am really concerned about the environment

  5. What did you like best about the Mum & You Hair & Body Wash? Please think about smell, ease of use, the feel of your baby's skin after, suitability for newborns, and the fact it is hypoallergenic

It feels like velvet on her curly hair and it detangles so easily.

1 - liked the wipes best as I have been feeling really bad about using wipes since seeing a programme about the damage they cause. They are great they work well and not too soggy will definitely be buying some
2- nappies lovely and soft
3 - designs were nice and bright
4 - the degradable wipes were the main reason for signing up - great idea
5 smelt nice easy to get top off and didn’t cause any irritation

Thank you

  1. Which Mum & You product did you like best and why?
Definitely the nappies! So soft and a generous fit.
  2. Describe the softness of the Mum & You nappychat nappies you tried.

Wonderfully soft and would buy again based on the softness.
  3. What did you like best about the designs on the nappies?
    Cute and unisex
  4. How did you feel about the fact that the Mum & You wipes are 100% biodegradable?

I loved the concept but they aren’t as wet as current brand and messy nappy changes used more wipes than normal.

  5. What did you like best about the Mum & You Hair & Body Wash? Please think about smell, ease of use, the feel of your baby's skin after, suitability for newborns, and the fact it is hypoallergenic
Great on my daughters sensitive skin! She has a cmpa so am very cautious about products for her.

Which Mum & You product did you like best and why?
I loved the nappies the most. They were really soft and definitely lasted e.g. over night. Never had one single leak!
2) Describe the softness of the Mum & You nappychat nappies you tried.
They were really soft almost had a sulk like feel to them.
3) What did you like best about the designs on the nappies?
They had a fun design but I didn't realise there was an indicator on them until I had used over half the pack.
4) How did you feel about the fact that the Mum & You wipes are 100% biodegradable?
Really happy about this and definitely made me think about buying the wipes again.
5) What did you like best about the Mum & You Hair & Body Wash? Please think about smell, ease of use, the feel of your baby's skin after, suitability for newborns, and the fact it is hypoallergenic.
I liked the fact it was a pump so you didn't accidentally get loads. Also neither of my girls reacted to it and one of my girls has dry skin. It was also good because it didn't have a high perfumed smell to it either

  1. Which Mum & You product did you like best and why?
Nappies as they were as absorbent as my usual brand, don't sag, and are really soft
  2. Describe the softness of the Mum & You nappychat nappies you tried.
Super cotton-like softness, they seem like they would be really comfortable
  3. What did you like best about the designs on the nappies? I wasn't a fan of the block colour that shows through vests or the gendered by eyelashes type animal characters
  4. How did you feel about the fact that the Mum & You wipes are 100% biodegradable?
Definitely a bonus and felt better about using them but they were quite flimsy
  5. What did you like best about the Mum & You Hair & Body Wash? Please think about smell, ease of use, the feel of your baby's skin after, suitability for newborns, and the fact it is hypoallergenic
It was pretty good, not sure about it being a foam, but the smell was pleasant enough and my little ones skin was fine afterwards. But I definitely wouldn't switch from our usual organic shower gel

Colourful but not garish, likes the fact there were different designs, and loved how stretchy they were

  4. How did you feel about the fact that the Mum & You wipes are 100% biodegradable?
Always looking to be more eco friendly and try to limit my use of wipes where possible, so would be more likely to choose this option in the future

  5. What did you like best about the Mum & You Hair & Body Wash? Please think about smell, ease of use, the feel of your baby's skin after, suitability for newborns, and the fact it is hypoallergenic

I love these products!

1, 2 & 3 - My favourite product tried were the nappies. They are beautifully soft and certainly a lot softer than supermarket brands I have tried- especially where the tabs meet the front. Baby's legs weren't left with red marks which often occur from other nappies regardless of size used.

The designs were cute and engaging for baby too. Well thought out.

  1. I love that the wipes are biodegradable as I often feel guilty when using wipes as I care about our planet. We all need to make changes and this is one I could make. In all honesty I don't think they were as efcive as other brands I have tried such as supermarket, pampers etc but remind me of Huggies. They are less wet and a more paper like texture but still do the job and I would be willing to swap, at least most of the time.

  1. The wash was lovely and so easy to use. The dispenser was very effective and made bath time easier. The smell was pleasant and not overpowering and I loved that it didn't create sore eyes as avoiding product getting near eyes is hard.

Hair and skin were so soft. A super product!

1)the nappies
2)softest nappies we have used and they didn't leak so we would use again
3)the designs were pretty, but the strip to show when the nappy is wet was hard to see.
4) i found the wipes better at cleaning up than other brand's, i trust that they really are biodegradable which is why i would buy more
5) the wash works well and smells nice, but wouldn't specially seek out to buy more.

  1. Which Mum & You product did you like best and why?

The nappies, 100%! Beautiful designs, soft and leak free

  2. Describe the softness of the Mum & You nappychat nappies you tried.

The nappies were so so soft, very kind to babies skin

  3. What did you like best about the designs on the nappies?

It was lovely to see a pattern instead of boring white. I did question whether the grey were night and white day though?

  4. How did you feel about the fact that the Mum & You wipes are 100% biodegradable?

Such a plus point in the world today. They feel wet too without being soaking and were kind to the skin.

  5. What did you like best about the Mum & You Hair & Body Wash?

The pump function and the fact it is dispensed as a foam! So handy and easy to use.

  1. Which Mum & You product did you like best and why?

I loved the nappies, really soft, no leaks and great on my baby's skin.

  2. Describe the softness of the Mum & You Nappychat nappies you tried.

Really soft. My baby frequently gets nappy rash and didn't suffer at all when using these. There was no wetness and no leakage.

  3. What did you like best about the designs on the nappies?

They were very cute- however this element of a product is of less important to me than fit, softness etc.

  4. How did you feel about the fact that the Mum & You wipes are 100% biodegradable?

It made using them guilt free and would make me more likely to purchase them in the future.

  5. What did you think about the Mum & You Hair & Body wash?

It was very easy to dispense, a plus when dealing with a splashing baby and works well on my baby's sensitive skin. I didn't think it smelt of very much (which I didn't mind). It was a good sized product and I didn't need too much to get a good lather.

Overall good products- thanks Mum & You!

  1. I liked the body wash the best.

  1. The nappies felt very soft. I liked the way they easily opened out so were easy to put on my baby and they fit smoothly around my baby. They felt less bulky than some other brands.

  1. I liked the fact the nappies came in two different colours. Although overall I felt they were a bit 'girly' probably due to the pink colour that featured on them all (I appreciate boys can wear pink but that's my honest opinion!)

  1. Loved that the wipes are biodegradable, takes away some of the guilt about the amount of landfill we generate. The wipes were smaller than the brand we usually use (water wipes) but I felt this was a positive as they were still big enough and less waste.

  1. Liked the easy to use pump dispenser and the fact it was suitable for all ages. I liked the foaming action and my older son (3 yrs old) liked using the foam on himself too.

Great products - thanks
