Great nappies so far, although we have had a couple of wee leaks! Love how soft they are on DD's skin.

Tattybogle89 · 07/04/2018 23:10

I like them too
Trying to figure out if I’m imagining it or if when nearing full baby’s vest feels damp as if the wee is mildly making its way out the outer cover? (Not like a leak) just me?

GlitteryFluff · 08/04/2018 16:19

I thought that earlier tatty.
I couldn't see a wet patch but I thought her vest was damp. Then I thought it must just be cold or something and didn't give it another thought but will pay more attention now!

Tattybogle89 · 08/04/2018 18:08

@glitteryfluff thanks, I don’t think I’m imagining it.. have rotated between my usual nappy and these and the best only feels damp front and underneath, with these nappies. Let me know what you think.love them in every other way too

Tattybogle89 · 08/04/2018 18:09

*vest

slowsloth · 09/04/2018 10:35

Thanks glitteryfluff I'll keep checking my junk box. I have actually since relieved an email saying that the nappies will be with me soon Grin

So far I like how soft they are but that's about it. My 4 month old had never had a nappy leak before these nappies. Overnight her sleeping bag was so wet that I also have a huge wet patch on my mattress which was new less than a year ago. I'm so annoyed and it's currently airing, it was the first really good mattress we've ever bought and was almost £1000 which is a huge amount of money to us. We've also had an instance where she had the nappy on on the changing mat, it wasn't full and had only been on about 30 minutes, I was changing her clothes. The wee managed to leak out of the top of the nappy to form a pool under her back. I'm finding that they're almost unfit for purpose. I don't think I'll be finishing the pack, I only have one washing machine and can't keep up with the leaks!

Tattybogle89 · 09/04/2018 12:07

@slowsloth that’s really disappointing. I haven’t had leaks other than he strange Dampness but I’ll admit I change nappy’s pretty much every 2/3 hours so I probably haven’t seen what they are like vey full but I might try. Shame because they are so soft and lovely

slowsloth · 09/04/2018 13:45

Tattybogle89 Yes it is a shame because the material is so lovely and soft. I too change frequently during the day, every 2-3hrs but at night we cosleep and I barely wake up. She murmurs and I latch her on. There is no way I'll be sitting up to change her in the night, I'm actually sleeping pretty well Grin

Tattybogle89 · 09/04/2018 13:52

@slowsloth I envy you! My four month old manages 3.5-4hours asleep before waking at night and struggle to settle him
Back to sleep. 😭 tend to get one period of 3.5-4 hours then maybe another hour later on.. before he tosses about the rest of the night. So I change him assuming he’s uncomfortable but it doesn’t tend to make a difference. Hard to be annoyed when he wakes me with a smile 😃

slowsloth · 09/04/2018 16:34

@Tattybogle89 I can sympathise. My 3 and a half year old wasn't the best sleeper. She'd last about 45-90 minutes before waking through the night for the first five months. Every time she woke I'd sit up and feed her and she'd often properly wake up so would have a nappy change. At about 5 months I couldn't cope anymore so I just put her in my bed and lay down to feed her. I have never looked back, I don't even turn any light on, just lean over to her in the dark. Obviously every baby is different but I'm certainly saving money in nappies through the night!

I've just been up to check on my mattress and there is still a mark there and it smells Sad I'm so upset and cross. I don't think I'll ever try new nappies again. It'll be years before we can afford to replace the mattress so we'll have a urine stained smelly mattress for the foreseeable future all because I thought I'd save £3.50 by getting a free pack of nappies in exchange for a review. It's a lesson well and truly learnt.

Tattybogle89 · 09/04/2018 18:31

@slowsloth maybe co sleeping is the way to go. Just too much going on in his little head I think! But it’s not forever.. (I hope!)

That’s a real shame about the mattress. Are you able to use like a carpet washer with attachment (can usually do upholstery with these) but it would depend on mattress type I think? If it’s a pricey one maybe not.
But that’s really not good. I paid £450 for my mattress and that was a treat for me so I can imagine how angry you are after spending 1000..

I usually use Aldi nappies, those are my favourite . I’m not keen on pampers so much. What are your regular nappies?

slowsloth · 09/04/2018 19:48

Tattybogle89 I do have a steam cleaner but not too sure if it'd be a good idea to use it. I haven't got a carpet washer. I might head over to the housekeeping section and have a look for some tips.
My regular nappies are Sainsburys. I don't even shop there but make a trip every few weeks for nappies (and ketchup Grin). They hold an unbelievable amount and in the morning my DD's bottom is as dry as when the nappy went on. I do also use Morrison's during the day too, I tend to use there's because that's where I do my weekly shop and the nappies are perfectly good. But at night I don't think I'll ever venture away from Sainsburys again. I like the Sainsburys ones so much I haven't even tried a Morrison's one overnight.

GlitteryFluff · 09/04/2018 22:18

Definitely getting damp vests here. Front and underneath where poppers are but where the actual nappy is not at edges etc
It's not wet enough to be a normal leak.
Usual leak spots (hip area/top of nappy at front and back) are bone dry.
I did think when they arrived that they felt a bit thinner in comparison to my normal nappies (Tesco/boots) so expected leaks but didn't expect this odd dampness?

Tattybogle89 · 09/04/2018 22:23

@Glitteryfluff glad it’s not not just me being particular! Each time we get a strange dampness to the vest, which in turn smells like wee so isn’t very pleasant. I thought it was just cold or I hadn’t dried the vests right, but not now it’s each time. It’s almost as if the lovely softness of the nappy means the usual outer layer is not as watertight.

Coffeeorgin · 10/04/2018 09:24

Also finding similar problems.
Usually use pampers premium protection (not through choice just the only ones that suit, annoyingly as expensive!). 14 week old LO can go through the night with one on.

Tried the Mum & you during day time and LO was crying to be changed within 1.5hrs and the nappy was soaked. He rarely cries to be changed usually, even after a few hours. They definitely don’t hold anywhere close to as much liquid as usual nappies. Certainly wouldn’t be willing to use them at night time worth fear of lots of leaks and unhappy baby. I could tell by the feel of them when taking out packet that there wasn’t as much padding.

However, do love the softness and the design.

JoshJoshJosh · 10/04/2018 13:09

Our experience has been mixed with these:

Pros - Softness and design as others have said are nice. Like the fact they are biodegradable.

Cons - Seem to be irritating LO's skin definitely using more Bepanthen than our usual nappies (Aldi Mamia), unusual as they claim to be pretty much everything free. No leakage but nappies feel heavier. I'm not sure if it's the design either but we've had a few poosplosions up the front which is new!

To be honest though the main thing that would put me off is the price £14.99 for 66 nappies seems bordering on insanity. Our current brand are £2.99 for 56 and seemingly also do a better job.

sozzled · 10/04/2018 16:42

Only received mine yesterday so limited testing so far.. but interesting to read the damp comments as this morning I thought DDs vest was very slightly damp but thought I was maybe imagining it. Again through the front rather than a 'leak' area. DD is a good sleeper so this was after 12 hours wear (no issues with this amount of time in our usual nappies), haven't had any issues during the day.

Only been tested against one poo so far - no leaks.

The nappies are soft but seem to slump at the back after a while (still contained the poo though which I was worried about!).

So far I still prefer Chicco and Boots, and the price would certainly put me off.

Lindorballs · 11/04/2018 21:39

I would agree with all these comments.
Lovely and soft and like the fact that they are biodegradable. No issues with skin irritation. However I have also noticed the strange dampness - not quite a proper leak but feeling as if the soft outer layer isn’t as watertight as other brands.
I’ve had some proper wee leaks too and a couple of poo leaks, although I wouldn’t say more than normal. I’ve yet to find a brand where this never happens.
My main issue is the price. £14.99 for 66 nappies is a crazy price. I normally buy Aldi mamia nappies and pay around £4.50 for 96. Unfortunately however good they are I would never be prepared to pay this price for something as disposable and used in such quantities as nappies.

IHateToCashew · 12/04/2018 15:20

I'm glad I'm not the only one a bit disappointed with these! They seem to cope alright with pop, but are hopeless with wee. DS seems to be damp within a couple of hours, which he absolutely hates and is a right pain at night faffing around with changing so often. With the Waitrose own ones, we can get away with one middle of the night change and that's it! The outer layer just doesn't seem to be up to much even though they're lovely to look at.

They are soft though. And they got DS and his skinny legs and odd long body a lot better then other nappies do. We aren't using them at night though - I'm sick of washing gro-bags and trying to get the dry same day.

IHateToCashew · 12/04/2018 15:21

POO not pop Grin

EllieMumsnet · 12/04/2018 16:04

Hi Everyone

I will be making the feedback thread live tomorrow and sending round the short survey for everyone to fill in. I just wanted to make sure everyone had received the products first.

I will also relay your comments about dampness to Mum & You.

Many Thanks
MNHQ

GlitteryFluff · 13/04/2018 09:56

These nappies are totally confusing me now.
I had stopped using them because of this dampness coming through.
However dh put one on dd last night for bed without me realising. Two 6oz feeds during the night with no nappy changes (bad mum emoji) and no leaks or dampness this morning?!
So totally confused now as I was getting dampness after just a few hours during day, yet they've gone all through the night last night.

IHateToCashew · 13/04/2018 10:17

I ran out and only had these to use last night. DS soaked two gro bags and STILL woke up damp Grin he is quite a heavy wetter though. Pees like a super soaker.

EllieMumsnet · 13/04/2018 10:58

Hi Everyone

I have just emailed you all to let you know the short survey and feedback thread is now live for you to leave your feedback on.

Many Thanks
Ellie

Bazby123 · 13/04/2018 11:06

I have enjoyed using the nappies they are really soft and love the designs. I have had some leaks but i think that is due to them being a size three, which is now to small on my baby.
