This thread is for the 15 Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the AEG T88595IS Heat Pump Dryer.

Here’s what AEG have to say: 'Tumble dry using AbsoluteCare® & heat pump dryers form AEG. with; unique cycles, tailored drum motions and temperatures to ensure the best care for even your most delicate garments.'

Testers: We'll be asking you to add feedback twice - we'd like your first impressions now and we will add some more questions after you've had a little bit of time to test out your machine.

So, for your first impressions, AEG would love to know:

-What were your impressions from the first few uses?

  • So far, what do you think of the time the machine takes to dry your clothes?
  • What features have been the most useful to you so far?

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by AEG on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,
MNHQ

I wasn't picked to test this, but I did buy it earlier this year.

It worked for two weeks before the motor went. An engineer came out and I was offered a replacement, which I declined in favour of a refund.

I'd looked forward to having my first tumble dryer, and on paper, it seems like the ideal machine. However, the instruction booklet is terrible - confusing and badly written.

I replaced it with a Miele, with the same functions as the AEG, which is a much better quality machine that has clear, easy to understand instructions.

Can I just say to the testers that are having a problem with the steam function and clothes coming out wet that it's more of a refresh than drying cycle, so don't use it to try to dry clothes. Also, the cotton cycle takes a long time as it's meant to be eco-friendly. It uses lower heat on a longer cycle to dry rather than a high-heat fast dry. I worked this out with hindsight by reading the Miele manual

I hope that some of the points about the manual are picked up by AEG and they produce one that can be read without frustration and guesswork.

Thank itsall, I've given up on the steam function I keep seeming to soak things.
Is anyone using tumble drier balls? I have not but feel I need to. Each time I have tried to dry bedding it twists so that the sheet or cover is completely tangled. I have to shake it all out and put it back in.
I have just remembered this as I should be making a child's bed at the moment but I'm having to wait on the sheets for a 2nd time.

Really has been the most bizarre product test. No second set of questions . . .still waiting. No attempt to offer any feedback to reviewers or answer questions. Not making me keen to go ahead and buy AEG at all. Especially as the instructions are so awful I can barely get any of the features to actually work properly.
This 'test' must have cost them a fortune so I really dont understand the lack of follow up.

Are there going to be any follow up questions for this. I've used all the settings now and am really familiar with the machine. As going to post my review on the website next week when my children are at school and I can proof read properly.

We usually have to post a few times on bigger items, I hope I haven't missed it?

Lunar1 · 03/12/2016 20:11

Dahu, I've had some problem too, mainly it not drying a full load properly. That's why I've not uploaded my final review yet incase I was missing something obvious!

Just wondering if any fellow testers have had any problems with their dryers? The motor has just gone on ours, which according to our appliance repair person is an uneconomic repair. I am not impressed with this on a three-year-old expensive appliance.
