This is the feedback thread for Mumsnetters who are testing out nice'n easy permanent colour cream or nice'n easy no ammonia, with a friend.

Here's what Clairol say: “Find your true colour with nice'n easy. nice'n easy permanent colour cream gives colour so natural looking it's the UK's #1. Colour lasts up to 8 weeks and provides up to 100% grey coverage.
For first time colourers, we recommend nice'n easy no ammonia; a non-permanent hair dye without ammonia, giving you natural & healthy looking colour. It lasts up to 24 shampoos and blends away greys. We're really keen for Mumsnetters and their friends to have a hair colour session and share their feedback”

Testers, once you have tested the hair dye, here are some questions to get you started, but please feel free to add your own comments too:

  • What colour was your hair before dying? And what colour was your friend’s hair?
  • Did you use nice'n easy permanent colour cream or nice'n easy no ammonia, and which shade did you/your friend choose?
  • Did you each colour your own hair or did you do it for each other?
  • How easy did you find the application process and why?
  • How happy were you with the end result and why?
  • Would you consider using nice’n easy hair colour again? If so, why? If not, why not?

Please also share your before & after photos on this thread.

Everyone who gives feedback as required will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

    Standard Insight T&Cs apply

    Thanks and Good Luck!

What colour was your hair before dying? and what colour was your Friends?
My Hair was a Dark Brown in Colour and my Mams a Light Blonde.

Did you use Nice and Easy Permanent Colour Creme or nice n Easy no Ammonia? And which colour did your friend use?
I used Nice nicer Easy Permanent Colour The Reddish Brown and my Mam did a patch test with the no ammonia light blonde bit unfortunately had a reaction so couldn't proceed with the hair dye.

I coloured my own hair and found it very easy to use.

I was very happy with the end result a small red tint to my hair and lots of shine.

I would definitely consider buying nice n easy again I loved the results and would definitely recommend to other people xx

-What colour was your hair before dying? And what colour was your friend’s hair?
Mine was Black and mum's was grey

-Did you use nice'n easy permanent colour cream or nice'n easy no ammonia, and which shade did you/your friend choose?
I used No Ammonia Brown shade and Mum used Permanent natural black colour.

-Did you each colour your own hair or did you do it for each other?
I did for myself and her :)

-How easy did you find the application process and why?
quite easy and quicker. One application made the process very simple and easy to handle.

-How happy were you with the end result and why?
Happy although it faded quite quickly for me. Mum is happy about her black colour and hope it stays longer.

-Would you consider using nice’n easy hair colour again? If so, why? If not, why not?
Doubtful considering No ammonia Brown is gone too soon! But Mum is happy about her colouring. Considering I prefer No ammonia, I am planning to try another shade in 3 months time to see how long it lasts. I visited my hometown which is too hot so not sure if that has affected the colouring. So, will try again and decide.

-What colour was your hair before dying? And what colour was your friend’s hair?
Mine and daughter's both dark brown.

-Did you use nice'n easy permanent colour cream or nice'n easy no ammonia, and which shade did you/your friend choose?

Both no ammonia, shade dark mahogany.

-Did you each colour your own hair or did you do it for each other?
I did mine and hers.

-How easy did you find the application process and why?
Mixing the solution and applying was very easy but when I did mine, I got quite a bit on my skin and didn't find it easy to make sure I'd for it all.

-How happy were you with the end result and why?
My daughters hair shows the colour well and looks good, but close up you can see some bits I missed.
I don't think mine is really noticeable. Dh certainly didn't realise I'd dyed it.

-Would you consider using nice’n easy hair colour again? If so, why? If not, why not?
The smell was nice and I prefer using a dye that washes out instead of one that will leave noticeable roots.
I probably won't bother again because of the lack of result but I think dd will want to use it again.

-What colour was your hair before dying? And what colour was your friend’s hair? Both our hair was dark brown
-Did you use nice'n easy permanent colour cream or nice'n easy no ammonia, and which shade did you/your friend choose? We both used the cream and Shade 4 Natural Dark Brown
-Did you each colour your own hair or did you do it for each other? We did each other
-How easy did you find the application process and why? The process was very easy, just a matter of mixing it. The instructions were very straight forward.
-How happy were you with the end result and why? I think perhaps we had both chosen the wrong shade and we should have gone a shade darker, as both our roots were noticeable.
-Would you consider using nice’n easy hair colour again? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, but as I saw a different shade

-What colour was your hair before dying? And what colour was your friend’s hair?

Mine is a dark brown and my friends is a dark blonde.

-Did you use nice'n easy permanent colour cream or nice'n easy no ammonia, and which shade did you/your friend choose?

Natural medium brown, mahogony.

-Did you each colour your own hair or did you do it for each other?

We each did our own.

-How easy did you find the application process and why?

It was very easy. The instructions were very clear too. It wasn't overly runny so I didn't end up with patches on my ears/down my neck like I usually do!

-How happy were you with the end result and why?

Absolutely thrilled. The colour is so rich but without the obvious dyed look. It's not fading ridiculously quickly either. The conditioner sachet contained a generous amount of conditioner too.

-Would you consider using nice’n easy hair colour again? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, definitely, it's a lovely product, I'll be switching from the brand I usually use, this product is cheaper, easier to apply and I achieved better results.
