We’ve been asked by LEGO® to find 30 UK Mumsnetters to give LEGO® as a reward to their DCs over a 2 week period.

We’re looking for Mumsnetters who have at least one child aged 5 or over.

Here’s what they have to say: “Here at LEGO®, we’re interested to see what occasions you would consider rewarding or treating your kids with LEGO®? A great school report. Holiday treats. Good behaviour on a trip to the dentist. Helping in the garden. Tidying their room. Mum's little star. There is a great LEGO® gift idea starting from £2.49 that is fun, creative and made for every occasion. With so many sets to choose from, we think LEGO® is a fantastic gift for every occasion and we’d like you to tell us about it!”

If you are selected to take part you will be sent one of the following:

  • Two LEGO® City Sets (Demolition Starter set and Swamp Police Starter set - RRP £8.99)
  • Two LEGO® Friends Sets (Garden Pool and Vet Ambulance - RRP £9.99)
  • One LEGO® City Set and One LEGOFriends Set (either Demolition Starter set OR Swamp Police Starter set, and Garden Pool OR Vet Ambulance)

Over a two week period we’d like you to give the LEGO® products to your child as a reward – should the situation arise where a reward or treat is warranted, of course Wink, in place of other rewards. During the testing period, you would need to give feedback on a thread on Mumsnet about the occasions where you have given the LEGO® sets as a reward. It's very important you share your feedback with Mumsnet and LEGO® on the thread. If there were no occasions to reward your child with LEGO®, you can use the LEGO® as a reward at a later date and still participate in the thread

Testers need to be available to participate in the test from 18-31 May. Please only apply if you’re available at this time.

Every tester who posts their feedback will be entered into a prize draw, where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

If you’d like to take part please add your details here.

Thanks and good luck!

Great idea using lego as a reward as opposed to screen time/sweets etc!

OhHolyFuck · 02/05/2015 17:34

DS1 would love this but isn't 5 til January, is the age fixed?

CastielsClevererBetterSister · 02/05/2015 18:59

Name down. May have to buy a new cabinet to display all the models DS has built before!

SpiritOfTheRitz · 02/05/2015 19:27

I've signed up.

I buy toys sometimes to reward the DC when they've achieved something difficult.

They don't know they're going to get it though, they aren't working towards it, it's always a big surprise.

I wouldn't give a big toy like a Lego set for normal good behaviour that I'd expect anyway, (in fact, I never reward behaviour I'd expect anyway, just lots of verbal praise and encouragement) but fortunately we have a big event during that fortnight that I'm anticipating might be quite challenging for DD, so I imagine I'll be giving her a little something afterwards (probably Lego) whether I'm chosen to take part or not.

5madthings · 02/05/2015 20:16

Me please, the madthings would love this! Ds4 especially. We are huge lego fans in our house!

ChoudeBruxelles · 02/05/2015 20:43

Done ds just bought some more lego city packs with his bday money so this would be great

JoyceDivision · 02/05/2015 20:43

My 2 have just started playing with lego a couple of months ago and just started in ast 3 week to earn their weekly spend, they have both decided to save up for lego in the summer hols, so this would go down a treat!

morningsarepants · 02/05/2015 22:06

My son adores Lego. I wish he would concentrate on his school work as much as he does on building things!

Tia2005 · 02/05/2015 22:53

Good idea my daughter would love this

kungfupidge · 03/05/2015 09:33

what a great product test !! all entered fingers crossed as both me and my son could have some fun building with these and sharing what we thought about are set xx

GreatJoanUmber · 03/05/2015 14:41

Oh yes please! My boys love Lego!

siiiiiiiiigh · 03/05/2015 16:52

hadn't thought of bribing with lego, usually stick to extra screen time.. Great idea.

CombineBananaFister · 03/05/2015 17:09

Have entered. Ds already saves up the money he earns from chores to buy a set that he loves. (it's just took him 18weeks to buy his much coveted Guardians of the galaxy set)

It might seem pricey to give it as a reward but I love that it lasts aaaages and can be multiple different things therefore extending its shelf life - so for us as money is tight (as with most people) it makes more sense in the long run. Don't love that it hurts so much when you stand on it Grin

slev · 03/05/2015 17:55

Also entered. DS (5) is convinced he is a master builder (i.e refuses to follow the instructions which drives me mad!) so would love some more Lego to aid his creative process!

Active1 · 03/05/2015 21:57

Survey completed.

I have one 7 year old DD and 5 year old twin DS. There may be trouble ahead (if we're selected)!

ThatIsNachoCheese · 04/05/2015 09:23

Signed up. We have a 6 year old who is currently pushing the boundaries and is a HUGE lego fan....be very interesting to see if lego as treats work. Will happily carry it on if it does!

Fingers crossed.

MooseyMoo · 04/05/2015 20:48

I think I forgot to tick my preference - it would be the Lego Friends sets.

BankWadger · 05/05/2015 08:42

Yes please!

Itchylegs · 05/05/2015 08:56

my DC would be ecstatic if I got to test this. I have not seen that stern warning before though...excluded from all future tests if you fail to respond as required. Anyone else seen that before?

CatSwag · 05/05/2015 10:33

great idea, entered
much better the treats/food that I wouldn't give as I worry about the association between food/rewards/emotion and potential eating disorders

magazines are a waste of money

far rather give a little lego set
that lasts and lasts
