AngelieMumsnet · 17/12/2014 11:32

This thread is for the 10 Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the Miele Complete C3 PowerLine Cat & Dog Bagged Vacuum Cleaner.

Here's what Miele say, "The Miele Complete C3 PowerLine Cat & Dog comes with an additional Turbobrush floorhead, specifically designed for a deep and thorough clean and is perfect for picking up those stubborn pet hairs. It also comes with an Active AirClean filter containing a layer of charcoal, which absorbs pet smells and bad odours."

Testers: We'll be asking you to add feedback twice - we'd like your first impressions now and we will add some more questions after you've had a little bit of time to test out your vacuum cleaner.

So, for your first impressions, Miele would love to know:

  • Please have a look inside the vacuum bag after the first use - are you surprised by how much has been picked up?
  • What were your impressions from the first few uses? Did you think that the vacuum was powerful?
  • What pets do you have to clean up after?

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Miele on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Marking my place for when it arrives, hopefully today...

TheSitChewAceChien · 18/12/2014 16:38

Not my review, as haven't used it long enough yet, but here's what was picked up from my clean (!) carpets. It seems the hairiest, moultiest beast in the house is actually not the cats, or the dog, but me! Shock

Oops just saw the first impressions bit!

I was very surprised by how much was picked up- I vac at least once a day and carpet looked clean before I used the Miele.

It's very powerful, but I really like the different settings, was able to do my rug without sucking it up!

I have a dog and cats to clean up after.

RatHammock · 18/12/2014 21:56

I was very surprised about just how much was picked up after the first use. The vacuum was very powerful and I liked the different power settings. The tools made it easier to get into crevices.

I have one dog and a four year old daughter to pick up after.

So far, I am very impressed with the product.

CheeryCherry · 19/12/2014 21:43

I was so impressed with the amount of dirt the Miele picked up...quite shocking really!! A lot of pet hair was collected - the lounge carpet looked like new after the first clean. I have 2 cats and a border collie who seems to constantly moult - I need to vac at least once a day - it was lovely to have no visible long black hairs for a few hours at least!
The vacuum cleaner is very powerful, on full power it lifted the carpet! But I like the different settings, especially the rug and quiet settings. But even on full power I am impressed with how quiet it is. The deep burgundy colour is good too. Not used any tools yet but will be doing a serious pre-Christmas clean soon.
It is all looking very positive so far!

  • Please have a look inside the vacuum bag after the first use - are you surprised by how much has been picked up?

Yes I was really surprised at how much dust was picked up from hoovering downstairs which is done every day.

  • What were your impressions from the first few uses? Did you think that the vacuum was powerful?

I was really sure how powerful the vacuum is, and I'm very impressed with the quality ifbthe product and attachments. I like the variable power setting.

  • What pets do you have to clean up after?

I have 3 very hairy dogs!

BrucieTheShark · 20/12/2014 14:56

I was quite surprised at how much was in the vacuum bag - after doing the whole house it is a lot more than I got with the previous vacuum. Also the brush bit picked up loads of long hairs from me and DD.

First impressions - very good. Like others, I like the different power settings to avoid lifting the carpet/rugs.

We have 2 DCs and one black dog to clean up after. The black dog was acquired after the light coloured tiles in the kitchen and toilet, and after we thought it was a good idea to have a white fluffy rug!

PseudoBadger · 22/12/2014 15:10
  • Please have a look inside the vacuum bag after the first use - are you surprised by how much has been picked up?

It was an impressive amount and the carpets looked noticeably cleaner than after our usual vacuum.

  • What were your impressions from the first few uses? Did you think that the vacuum was powerful?

It was so powerful on the strongest setting that it was very hard work to push it around the floor! I could see the carpet being lifted, so no complaints about power here. We liked the very long power flex as it meant not having to unplug and re-plug as you move around the house.

  • What pets do you have to clean up after?

Two long-coated border collies who are mid moult, kindly shedding black and white hairs all over various surfaces.

bryte · 22/12/2014 17:41

I was finally able to take delivery of the Miele vacuum cleaner today. I was sadly excited to get stuck into vacuuming the carpets.

Please have a look inside the vacuum bag after the first use - are you surprised by how much has been picked up?

Yes. I could tell when I was using it that so much more was being picked up from the carpet than our current vacuum cleaner manages to dislodge. I have a few bedrooms with old carpets that have long ago had their pile flattened, and makes it difficult to vacuum up hair. The Miele brought to the surface a lot more hair than usual.

  • What were your impressions from the first few uses?
So far the Miele C3 is living up to expectations. It's easy to use. I particularly like that the end can move around at different angles, the multiple suction levels, the tools stored neatly inside and how it is lightweight enough to pick up and walk around with.

-Did you think that the vacuum was powerful?

Yes, it is very powerful. I used it on a middle setting and it is far more powerful than my usual vacuum cleaner.

  • What pets do you have to clean up after?

1 shaggy-haired, black dog.

NettleTea · 22/12/2014 18:06

Mine has arrived!!
Havent unpacked it yet, but I have just moved a big tree into place so I have made a big mess ready, and I can see the cat hair tumbleweed blowing around.
My 8 year old son got very excited because he thought I had bought him a Turret from the XBox game 'Portal'
He is now sorely disappointed.

I have 2 messy children and an overly fat black cat to clear up after. I will be back to report shortly

fuzzywuzzy · 22/12/2014 19:57

Got mine last Thursday, thank you.

Didn't use it till Saturday, I've been very ill with tonsilitis. But I do aboslutely love the look of it, it's slick and I really like the compartment for the tools as it means I don't loose the tools and they don't fall off whilst in use.

- Please have a look inside the vacuum bag after the first use - are you surprised by how much has been picked up? No I wasn't as I realised when using the vacuming it has a very strong suction, it lifted the carpet up as I used it, was impressed at how quickly the carpet was cleaned tho, as I usually need to go over spots several time till all the hair (and cat treats) are completely cleaned away
- What were your impressions from the first few uses? Did you think that the vacuum was powerful? Absolutely do think the vacuum is poswerful, I like that its so light at the same time, and as it's not an upright (my normal one is) I can clean a lot faster, also it is so quiet in comparison to my normal vacuum, the cats are usually terrified when I get the dyson out but they were sitting (on chairs) watching slightly interested as I used the Miele, not trying to run for their lives (knocking things over) which is their usual reaction
- What pets do you have to clean up after? Two cats... and two daughters with waist length hair (do they count?)

DancingDinosaur · 22/12/2014 20:16

Please have a look inside the vacuum bag after the first use - are you surprised by how much has been picked up?

Yes, it had picked up a vast amount of dog hair, dust and other debris.

  • What were your impressions from the first few uses?

I like it, its nice and lightweight, easy to push round and it gets right into the corners. The plus side is that my 5 year old loves using it too, and insists on getting it out to clean up.

Did you think that the vacuum was powerful?

Its very powerful. It picks up bits easily, which by comparison would have blocked my old vacuum cleaner. I love the variable settings on it too.

  • What pets do you have to clean up after?

An extremely hairy Labrador who leaves huge hairballs across the floor.

NettleTea · 24/12/2014 12:16

Please have a look inside the vacuum bag after the first use - are you surprised by how much has been picked up?
I was surprised, and wasnt. I use a Dyson normally so dont usually notice how much mess there was, so it was a surprise to see a 'fresh' vacuuming all in one load - made me realise how mucky my house is! But also I knew I had extra to vacuum because of moving the tree in.

What were your impressions from the first few uses? Did you think that the vacuum was powerful?
It IS powerful, and really light to move around, plus I really like how the wheels are arranged to give it a good swivel-factor. The handle is long, but extends even longer, which is great for doing the stairs and high up places with he different attachments.

What pets do you have to clean up after?
A cat and a pair of degus, who do not make mess in themselves, but hay and food and bedding often gets dropped near their unit.

  • How have you found the Miele vacuum cleaner overall?
I really love it. Its so powerful and even sucks up the big bits on the floor that would have blocked my old vacuum.
  • Is there anything in particular about the Miele vacuum cleaner which impressed you?
The way it cleans so thoroughly and gets right into the corners. And the different settings which means I can hoover the the curtains, the chairs, the table and the kitchen worktops Wink.
  • Would you recommend the Miele vacuum cleaner to other pet owners, or allergy sufferers? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I really would. I'm an asthmatic and I really feel the house isn't that dusty / hairy anymore. I've just realized I haven't really used my inhalers much at all recently. Everything feels cleaner.
  • Would you recommend it to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it. Its the best vacuum I've ever had (and I've been through a lot in my life time!)
CheeryCherry · 08/01/2015 17:16
  • How have you found the Miele vacuum cleaner overall?
I think it is a powerful vacuum cleaner, which picks up every speck of dirt/hair/fur/fluff on the floor. It works well on carpet, hard wood flooring, parquet floor, lino and bamboo flooring. It even has rug and curtains settings, so I think it can clean anything! I am impressed that it is relatively quiet no matter what surface it cleans.
  • Is there anything in particular about the Miele vacuum cleaner which impressed you?
It looks smart, it has incredible suction power and has a very long cable, therefore can reach all the rooms on each floor of my house.
  • Would you recommend the Miele vacuum cleaner to other pet owners, or allergy sufferers? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would definitely recommend it for pet owners. I have a border collie who seems to moult all year round, two cats who cover all our bedding/furnishings with their fur and two indoor guinea pigs , who don't necessarily shed a lot of hair, but kick up vast amounts of sawdust, food and hay on a daily basis! This vacuum cleaner cope with it all, without getting blocked. It must be better for allergy sufferers, simply because it works so well. My DH is allergic to dustmites, and we have been using the Meile to clean the mattress and the sofas and they certainly appear much cleaner.
  • Would you recommend it to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Oh yes I would! It has made my carpet look like new again (except for the red wine stain I have never been able to shift!) I realise it is a pricey product, but I can't see why anyone would be disappointed with its' capabilities. High quality, very effective and highly efficient.

Thank you for letting me test this product, it really has been a pleasure!

  • How have you found the Miele vacuum cleaner overall?

I really like it, it's light and powerful, the tools are neatly stored, it looks nice and not too plastic and it picks up lots.

  • Is there anything in particular about the Miele vacuum cleaner which impressed you?

I like the ability to change the power depending on what you are doing and the suction level which leaves rugs looking visibly cleaner.

  • Would you recommend the Miele vacuum cleaner to other pet owners, or allergy sufferers? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend this vacuum cleaner, but I would warn others of the cost of bags. I like how effective it is at cleaning up hair so I would suggest it specifically for pet owners.

  • Would you recommend it to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I'm impressed with the vacuum and the guarantee so I would recommend it as worth the money.

NettleTea · 09/01/2015 16:50

How have you found the Miele vacuum cleaner overall?
I really like it, small and powerful, and very manoeverable

Is there anything in particular about the Miele vacuum cleaner which impressed you?
as above - it is very easy to move around and very powerful. I also like how the attachments can be adjusted and the metal tube is long enough that I can get right under the sofa without having to move it! It is also light to move about and the 3 wheels make it easy to pull from here to there.

Would you recommend the Miele vacuum cleaner to other pet owners, or allergy sufferers? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, it seems to pick up an amazing amount of dust and animal hair. I have definately noticed an improvement in my sinus problems since I have been using it

Would you recommend it to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, because it is so easy to use and powerful.

bryte · 10/01/2015 11:32

How have you found the Miele vacuum cleaner overall?
I love it. I swear the (scummy, came with the house) bedroom carpets have changed colour since using this vacuum cleaner. It's easy to use, carry, store, change attachments and picks up an amazing amount of hair and grime.

Is there anything in particular about the Miele vacuum cleaner which impressed you?
I like the turbo brush. It glides across the floor with the ease of an old fashioned carpet sweeper and picks everything up in its path the first run over the carpet. I made the mistake of using it on a carpet harbouring a mass of invisible human hair and a lot of long hair tangled around the brushes. I was able to get it off but I was amazed how easily it got this hair out of the carpet. The turbo brush will be so useful to have a quick, easy clean up around dog hair areas of the house.

Would you recommend the Miele vacuum cleaner to other pet owners, or allergy sufferers? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend it on what I have seen so far. I know it's quite expensive, and I perhaps would not have stretched to pay for this model. Knowing what I know now, I would go for this model. DD2 appears to suffer from the dust mite intolerance DH does and it is reassuring to be able to give her whole room and furnishings a thorough clean.

Would you recommend it to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend it to friends with cats and dogs and allergy sufferers. When you have pets, you need a vacuum cleaner that is easy to use and does the job quickly.

- How have you found the Miele vacuum cleaner overall? I love it, it's very user friendly (right ok I haven't read the full instruction booklet!), but thus far I've managed to clean the brush head, find the tools, figure out the settings and find the little tools so cleverly hidden away in the body of the hoover.
- Is there anything in particular about the Miele vacuum cleaner which impressed you? Apart from the odour reducing claim it makes, which it does largely do. I love that it is so quiet, and so light. I guess I am so used to lugging around a heavy dyson on stairs and around the room that the miele is a revelation.
- Would you recommend the Miele vacuum cleaner to other pet owners, or allergy sufferers? If so, why? If not, why not? yes absolutely, my eldest has allergies, mostly to house dust and suffers from asthma, this vacuum picks up a lot and as it has a bag there is no faffing about with emptying cylinders which minimises the dust whirling about (and the need for a vacuum after emptying the cylinder!)
- Would you recommend it to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why Yes and I have especially to pet owners. It does what it says on the tin and is very competitively priced.

It does cut down on the vacuuming time, and it is so quiet (cannot get over that), our cats are usually scared of the vacuum but this one they will tolerate and watch suspiciously instead of fleeing for heir lives when I begin vacuuming. my girls also like using it (long may it last) think its easier for my youngest to handle as it is light and easier for little hands to handle 9also she enjoys winding up the chord!).

  • How have you found the Miele vacuum cleaner overall?
I have been really impressed. Excellent power, light to move around, cord is nice and long and you can pull it about easily. Most importantly of all, it picks up so much stuff.
  • Is there anything in particular about the Miele vacuum cleaner which impressed you?
The power and how much dirt it gets up primarily. I like the compartment where the different attachments are stored as I usually lose them and end up always using the same one.
  • Would you recommend the Miele vacuum cleaner to other pet owners, or allergy sufferers? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely. I'm not sure about the effect on the family's varying allergies as yet, but when you see how much of the dog hair is removed you can't help but feel it must be making a difference.
  • Would you recommend it to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes would definitely recommend.
ldt87 · 13/01/2015 12:11

I'm currently filming my clips to send in, I just wanted to add that I have been using the tools and I'm impressed with how they get things like cobwebs which normally just linger near the end of the pipe.

I'm so happy to have tested this product as I can see a noticeable difference in my rugs when lying my baby down to play there is no left over pet hair.

ldt87 · 13/01/2015 12:11

I was picked by MNHQ to review this product/ service, which I received for free. This review is in my own words and reflects my true opinion.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 13/01/2015 12:35

I'm not part of the review panel, but have this vacuum cleaner and am very pleased with it. Suction is great, good set of tools to swoop under furniture (optional tools also available). In fact, 19 yr old teenage nephew used it to vacuum DS's room a little while ago, and announced "Woah, this hoover is SICK" (apparently, that means 'Good' these days) Grin

TheSitChewAceChien · 13/01/2015 18:13
  • How have you found the Miele vacuum cleaner overall?
I've found it an excellent vac. I know this is shallow, but the look of it is also a big plus. It looks really smart.
  • Is there anything in particular about the Miele vacuum cleaner which impressed you?
Yes, on the main head (not the turbo brush one, the other one) it has a tubey thing (technical term :) ) that bends and moves. It's the first cylinder I've had that has this and it just makes it so much easier to manoeuvre. The powerful suction is also v impressive.
  • Would you recommend the Miele vacuum cleaner to other pet owners, or allergy sufferers? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely would. It's fantastic at picking up pet hair, and my carpet just looks so much fresher.
  • Would you recommend it to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, same as above

Thank you for letting me test it, it's awesome :)
