Miele G6410SC Dishwasher Review Thread NOW CLOSED

AngelieMumsnet · 12/11/2014 14:44

This thread is for the 10 Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the Miele G6410SC Dishwasher.

Here's what Miele say, "The G6410SC freestanding dishwasher will provide you with the opportunity to run a more economical wash cycle whenever you need to clean your dishes and glassware. With a high energy efficiency rating of A+++, you can reduce the amount you need to spend on running an appliance within your home."

Testers: We'll be asking you to add feedback twice - we'd like your first impressions now and in a week we will add some more questions.

So, for your first impressions, Miele would love to know:

  • How did you find initially setting up the diswasher?
  • What were your impressions from the first few uses?

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Miele on their website and other marketing materials.
Thanks,
MNHQ

Nothing is coming out dry. Did I imagine that it has a dry function or am I just unable to understand how to work it :/

There are still puddles in the indents of cups etc but all in all I think stuff is drier than in my previous machine

IneedAwittierNickname · 23/11/2014 20:23

I've never had a dishwasher so don't know how dry is 'normal' I had to wipe the plates and bowls.

Most stuff should be dry enough to put away but often plastic doesn't dry well and as I said things with an indent often have a wee puddle. You shouldn't have to dry things as a rule

It's mostly the plastic Items that are coming out wet although the plates were slightly too. The instructions say I need more rinse aid. I Haven't used any as my tablets said it isn't needed but will buy some this week :)

Rinse aid really helps my only things that aren't bone dry are the tommee tippee cups. It's worth paying for Finish in my experience because it is better - we tried an eco one recently and it wasn't as good.

Dh and I are still struggling to find the most efficient stacking method in the bottom basket. We have taken out the back rack to enable us to fit large pans/bowls/trays in, which now means we have a sizeable spare rack to find room for in a cupboard (a bit of a pain). We have only used the normal wash function so far, but will try the eco one for the next wash. It's just soooo long! I love the fact that the door pings open at the end of the cycle to enable the contents to dry out properly, a godsend when I put the machine on overnight or while we are at work. Still finding a bit of pooloing of water on the tops of the cups/beakers etc, but I thinks this is fairly standard with all machines.

I've never found plastic dries 100% in a dishwasher, I'm using finish 3 in 1 tablets and have put rinse aid into the dishwasher but I still have to hand dry the dc's plastic cups, bowls and plates. Everything else dries fine.

I'm contemplating taking out the the removeable bottom rack too but will also have the storage issue.

When do we need to submit more feedback, the original post said 23/11? Haven't had anymore questions yet though?

I have only used the eco wash so far and we have only had a couple of cases of food still on plates - my stacking error more than the dishwasher. I have to say that the hour of drying time seems ott and I tend to lose patience and just turn it off.
I have not tried putting plastic in the machine as it has always gone off colour in past machines but will give it a go on DS's lunch box and see. I also haven't dared wash the wine glasses - I'm just very precious about them but on the feed back of a pp on this I will give it a go then sue Miele if it all goes wrong

Also wondering about more questions??

I am trying to put it on overnight a) to use the cheaper electricity b) as it makes the length of the cycle irrelevant and c) everything is dry.

I can't find my instruction book but is there some way of adjusting the water hardness you put in during set up?

OOoo CMP69 you have inspired me. I bought one of those oven cleaning sets in the summer - with the bag to put the racks in. Needless to say it is still in the cupboard. Out of the oven and into the dishwasher I say!

Owl to get back into the settings menu, to reset the water hardness. Hold in the start button and turn the machine on, keep the start button depressed for at least 4 seconds. The manual is online if you have really lost yours Smile

OwlCapone · 25/11/2014 08:28

Fab, thanks! I think my manual has slipped from the top of the drawer it was in and gone down underneath the kitchen cupboards.

I'm videoing too but there will be no mention of Mummy having got a "new dishwasher" from my DS!

Will you be doing 2/3 short ones rather than one long one?
If not I'll have to pause recording while the cycle is on to capture the door popping open!

You need to film a sleeping baby next to it to demonstrate how quiet it is :0

I'm going to do 2-3 short ones - don't think I can get the whole lot in one and can't pause filming on my mobile phone... going to try and get DH to be in the film as well as he's far more photogenic than I am!

I hate my voice on recordings
(I realise that is obviously what I sound like to everyone else).
Maybe I'll get dh and 11yr old dd to appear in some of mine too - just to show that Men and Children can also use it.

I'm doing the videos too, so glad I'm having my hair cut in the morning so that I don't look like a complete slob when we do ours! I think we'll do short ones too.
