This thread is for the 10 Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the Miele G6410SC Dishwasher.

Here's what Miele say, "The G6410SC freestanding dishwasher will provide you with the opportunity to run a more economical wash cycle whenever you need to clean your dishes and glassware. With a high energy efficiency rating of A+++, you can reduce the amount you need to spend on running an appliance within your home."

Testers: We'll be asking you to add feedback twice - we'd like your first impressions now and in a week we will add some more questions.

So, for your first impressions, Miele would love to know:

  • How did you find initially setting up the diswasher?
  • What were your impressions from the first few uses?

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Miele on their website and other marketing materials.
Thanks,

They did offer to take ours away but we have kept it.
They did take all the packaging away which was useful

How did you find initially setting up the diswasher?
Delivery men offered to plumb in the machine, but I declined the offer as ourold one was still in situ. Dh found no problems in installing it. He checked our local water hardness online to set up the hardness function on the machine, and found the control panel easy to use to do this.

What were your impressions from the first few uses?
Well I have only put it on once so far as it arrived yesterday afternoon, but I am very pleased with the results. The design of the cutlery tray is excellent, and much better than having bundles of cutlery in a basket which when touching each other do not always get cleaned sufficiently. Its also good to have the sharp knives laying down and not flailing around! I like the fact that the racks are so adjustable, particularly helpful when I want to wash tall glasses/wine glasses. I hand wash these at present, so it will make my life easier knowing that they can now fit in the dishwasher. I loaded a pretty standard mix of items for a first go, but added a greasy enamelled oven tray with bits of fish finger crumbs stuck fast to it. It did take up alot of room on one side, but I was impressed that I could still stack quite a bit of stuff around it. I'm not great at stacking dishwashers! So far, so good!

How did you find initially setting up the diswasher?

Piece of cake. I gave my brother some money to buy a couple of extension thingies (my kitchen was the problem not the dishwasher) and went out Grin
He said it was really easy though

What were your impressions from the first few uses?

I've only used it once and I was impressed. I did give it a through testing by putting a day old oven dish with burnt on sauce in. That still had a small bit on when I took it out but it wiped off with a cloth. Really really happy so far (1st dishwasher)

Well it has finally arrived and looks great siting in the middle of my kitchen Sad . DH says he will cut a bigger hole in the cupboard tonight to fit the mahosive fitting contraption through. The guys on the delivery were really nice apparently but had no intention of plumbing it in, even if it had fitted. I'm debating whether to wash the dishes or chuck them on a quick wash in the old one [lazy emoji]

Hmm. Have found a problem. The bottom tray/drawer/basket (whatever it's called) doesn't stay out. So if I turn my back to get a plate it rolls back into the dishwasher Hmm
am I doing something wrong?

I'm sure I read another review posted on this thread with the same issue.

The only niggle I've encountered so far is I can only seem to put 2 of my large, square plates in the bottom rack (they're 27/28cm) without them obstructing the arm. If I raise the middle rack to fit the plates then I can't lower the middle section of the cutlery tray to put the utensils in. Think I'm going to have another play around or I can only wash 2 of the large plates at once.

Well it's in. No bother to install. Set up, salt and rinse aid in. Quick wash done. We are good to go Grin

IneedAwittierNickname my lower drawer does too. I did adjust the front feet to lower the front, even though it had showed as being level before and this did improve it. If I load the back more than the front it still does it unless I gently push the door down with my foot first. I don't think the door goes completely flat at the moment. I wondered if the spring or whatever will loosen up a bit with use.

OwlCapone · 20/11/2014 21:14

DillydollyRIP I had that and so I put the bigger utensils that didn't fit in the cutlery tray in the middle drawer instead. It's what I would have done in my old machine anyway.

I am a little bewildered by the many different adjustments it is possible to make!

IneedAwittierNickname · 20/11/2014 21:42

Thanks Owl I'll have a look at that. My brother said he'd installed it all etc but maybe he didn't do that bit!

As an aside do I need salt and rinse aid? The ones I bought and the instructions indicate not. But my mum said she uses them anyway. (I live in the SE which may or may not be a hard water area. I have no idea)

Ooo. Dishwasherexpert.com tells me I live in a very hard water area and should use both!

If you look on your water company website they will tell you for your post code the actual figures for water hardness (you are meant to set that on the machine). My tablets need salt and rinse aid (the're Finish but not 3 in 1 or complete)

Thanks cmp. Clearly getting my brother to set it up doesn't work. Unless he did that himself!

In our house its DS's job to empty the dishwasher and I have heard him muttering darkly about the bottom tray but I think he was more complaining that it doesn't have brakes and if he pulls it too hard it just shoots out and onto the kitchen floor Grin. So the opposite problem to the one you are reporting.

I'm having a few teething problems with stacking - we have whittard pasta bowls that are a bugger to fit nicely in a dishwasher. It is better than the old one but still getting the odd dirty bowl after a wash.

I like the door opening to dry part of the wash but not sure why that is included in the wash time, the door opens more that 40 mins before the actual end of the wash.

IneedAwittierNickname mine was level and then I pushed it under the worktop so it is difficult to check as the spirit level doesn't really fit. It looked slightly off level from what I could tell though. I'm glad someone else is having the same problem though as it makes me feel better!

We just have standard ikea white plates and they fit in fine with no adjustments. However that middle section of the cutlery tray at the top has fallen down a few times when I've opened it after the dishwasher has run but overall far superior cleaning to our old Bosch but it is a new machine.

Please could someone tell me how to post photos/ a video on here? The 23rd is fast approaching. Also initially there was something about £50 voucher to spend in the Miele online shop anyone received this?

Wailywailywaily · 21/11/2014 12:56

I have been wondering about photos (I only said I could do photos not video). Firstly I don't know what photos are actually required - clean dishes? a carefully stacked, fully loaded dishwasher? secondly when should I post them? AngelieMN stated in the OP that there will be another few questions to answer so I have been kinda holding off till then. The family are kinda bemused by my obsessive photography of the dishwasher Grin.

I have had a couple of issues with the mid section of the cutlery drawer too, it actually fell off Shock I have put it back fairly easily but it does seem a little flimsy.

As I use the dishwasher I'm getting tempted to just take off most of the extra bits that I never seem to use - like the fold down side shelves on the middle and lower drawers - It just seems to make sense to get rid of the bits I don't use and they seem to be fairly easy to put back in place should the need ever arise.

Well I'm officially impressed. Dishwasher managed to perfectly clean to a beautiful shine a crusty pasta bake dish on the eco wash setting. Will try to upload before and after pics... No way my old dishwasher would have managed this Smile

I've washed the shelves and grill pan and they came out pretty well.
I might bung some of dds placticcy toys in to give them a nice clean. She's got a ball pool filled with balls too...

I find that plastic Tommee Tippee cups and pots flip over then fill with water and it doesn't work as well but I don't think this is a problem with this dishwasher but with all of them.

The first load has just gone on. Opted for the standard Eco programme but it takes soooooo long. Hopefully the quick wash will be enough for a standard load. Will try that next time. Either that or I will have to buy more crockery Sad

Ah, more than an hour of the total time is drying time. In my old machine I used to wait until the dishes were cool enough to handle and then empty it Grin

All done. Pretty dry and clean apart from 1 teaspoon (creme fraiche) 1 dessert spoon (fajita sauce) and 1 wooden spoon (piece of onion attached). Very possibly operator error with the new cutlery tray snd obvs should have been more careful with scraping the wooden spoon. I would have been surprised had spoons not been clean in my very old previous machine!
