Yikes, looks like I'm not the only one losing clumps! I've stopped it for the time being. Can't afford to lose any more hair Confused

Lizzylou · 10/03/2014 16:25

Ok

Hairtype - fine, prone to frizz, used to be very curly pre-dc Confused
Hairstyle - Highlighted chin length bob
Has hair got thinner in last 5-10 yrs - yes, after dc very definitely,
Heatstyling products- yes, use Babyliss Big Hair and Straighteners regularly
Never used any Rapid products.
First impressions: Very easy to use, but I don't squeeze it straight onto scalp, that didn't work me, I pump foam onto my palm and use fingertips to distribute. It is non greasy and easy to style afterwards. Hoping for a miracle in 60 days Grin

StormsAndLightning · 10/03/2014 18:10

AnnMumsnet , do you mind asking them another question if it's not too late? When they say the "appearance" of fuller-looking hair, I assume it's only temporary, which is also why you have to continue. This is fine. My question is this: The temporary bit - is it just that you need to continue with this to get more/fuller hair growth, or is it that it temporarily covers the hair itself and slowly gets 'rinsed off' once you stop? The reason why I ask is that 2 pumps are in no way enough to cover my scalp, never mind my hair. So if I need to choose, is it better to mostly cover my hair itself, or more important to distribute is as much as possible to scalp to increase hair growth or appearance of thicker hair at root level. Thanks ever so much.

LackaDAISYcal · 11/03/2014 12:06

I wonder if it's just the massage action giving the impression of fuller hair...

SwishAndFlick · 11/03/2014 12:31
  • What is your hair type? (thin, fine, course, wavy, straight etc.)

My hair is curly, with a lot of fly a aways.

*What is your hair style? (short, medium, long, coloured, highlighted etc.)

My hair is down to the middle of my back. Its coloured ages ago and has mostly grown back to natural except for the ends. (I need a cut desperately)

*Does your hair appear to have got thinner in the last 5-10 years? What life events have affected your hair and how?

Im 24 and yes my hair has gone thinner because of my 2 pregnancies. My baby is 10months now and I'm still loosing loads when I brush or wash my hair.

*Do you regularly use heat styling products (e.g. dryers, curling tongs, straighteners etc.)

I blowdry my hair when I wash it twice a week. I try and straighten it when i can but thats about once a week.

*Have you previously tried any other Rapid products? (RapidLash, RapidBrow, RapidShield)

No I haven't.

  • What was your overall first impression of the RapidHair product?

Like most others I thought the bottle was tiny especially considering the price. I'm a bit doubtful that it'll last for 60 days. But overall I do like it. It seems to have made my hair especially my aweful fringe regrowth smoother.

slalomsuki · 11/03/2014 13:53

My hair is fine and frizzy which goes in to curls if I spend time drying it properly.

It's shoulder length all round including fringe which I pin back to keep it out of my eyes

Hair has definitely got thinner and more frizzy in the last 5 years which I put down to age. It used to be tamed curls and thicker but now its frizzy.

I tend to let it dry in the air or use a hair dryer/big hair combo if I have time.

Never tried any of the rapid products before.

First impression was I wasn't sure how such a small bottle was going to work and be enough for the 60 days. Smell is OK but have to pump it on to hands and then massage in. No real side effects to date but a bit concerned by the other comments. So far so good.

ilovesprouts · 11/03/2014 16:51

first impressions was gosh wat a small bottle for a big price not seen a difference yet so will keep on using it

Winterbluessummersoonish · 11/03/2014 18:08

Hair type: thick curly dry Hmm

Hair style: shoulder length, usually in a pony tail/bun type knot thing -

Hair in the past years has got drier, more curly and is sad Hmm two babies, full time work etc mean it is my last priority.

I use straighteners when I have time

Have never used any previous products from rapid hair

Thoughts so far: at first I was a bit Hmmtwo pumps did not seem enough, the size seemed small for the price.
Pleasantly surprised to already feel my hair is softer-this can only be the product...

Hope it continues...

Northernexile · 12/03/2014 13:34

~ What is your hair type? (thin, fine, course, wavy, straight etc.)
Fine, straight, shoulder length. Knots easily and falls out easily. Not much bounce. Dry ends.
~ What is your hair style? (short, medium, long, coloured, highlighted etc.) Long bob, not coloured.
~ Does your hair appear to have got thinner in the last 5-10 years? What life events have affected your hair and how? Yes, has always been fine, but there always seemed to be a lot of it. After I had my DD 2 years ago I lost loads, and the front section is very wispy.
~ Do you regularly use heat styling products (e.g. dryers, curling tongs, straighteners etc.) I use a hair dryer most days, and straighteners very occasionally
~ Have you previously tried any other Rapid products? (RapidLash, RapidBrow, RapidShield) No
~ What was your overall first impression of the RapidHair product?
Thought packaging and instructions were sparse and proto-typey, ie not very attractive and instructions not detailed enough. I was surprised such a small amount could cost so much. Two pumps is only covering my parting and fringe area, not my whole scalp. I am also applying before bed onto dry hair, but wash my hair in the morning. I wouldn't fancy applying it after I have washed my hair before I go to work as there is a slight residue. Haven't seem any improvement whatsoever in the week or so I have been using it as yet, but I have noticed a fair bit of hair (poss more than normal) coming out when I wash it. Possibly because of the massaging rather than the product, but having read what others have written I'm a bit worried!

runnyhabbit · 12/03/2014 20:54

Fine straight hair, with a bit of a kink in it. Can become quite knotty and parts easily during the day

Shoulder length, with one longer layer and full fringe

Always had fine hair, but has fallen out more since having dc (8 & 6 yrs)

Hair dryer every day, straighteners when going out (about once a month)

Never used any other Rapid products

Limited instructions, 2 pumps not enough when put straight onto hair so have to rub it onto my hands then into my scalp, and like pp have said what will happen when the trial is over, will my hair revert to it's previous condition? Haven't noticed a great improvement so far

500internalerror · 13/03/2014 15:14

I still haven't noticed anything - which is bad for the claims if the product, but good that my hair isn't falling out! I agree with the others who've said that 2 pumps is impossible to do a whole scalp with.

MimsyBorogroves · 14/03/2014 17:06

My brief feeling of "woo, I have body!" is definitely down to the shampoo. I've not used it since, and I'm back to straight, thin hair. I think RapidHair is making it slightly softer and there perhaps is a bit less frizz around my parting, but I can't shake the feeling that it's more a very watery mousse that I'm applying.

I've also noticed that my head is very, VERY itchy recently - and over the last couple of nights I have scratched to the point of bleeding at the hairline on my forehead and below the hairline on my neck. I can't say for certain it's the RapidHair, so I'm carrying on testing - but I'm not sure what else it might be.

Sigune · 15/03/2014 21:33

I do wonder if testers were told that this company does animal testing?
YUK!
I wasn't aware of this when I first used Rapidbrow.

I used 1 tube and it did give some results but since then I have found out about their animal testing (PETA website), so I for one will never buy from them again. There are products doing the same job - also hideously expensive - available from companies who don't test on animals.

FYI
(Buyer Beware
China requires animal testing on all imported cosmetics and companies which now enter this very lucrative emerging market are jettisoning their hitherto prevailing principles)

MimsyBorogroves · 16/03/2014 12:05

Oh bloody hell. Sad I didn't know about animal testing.

Sigune · 16/03/2014 19:18

it's not your fault! they keep it all very secret! but we CAN wise up - let's have our wallets do our talking! (THIS they'll understand!)

nilbyname · 18/03/2014 08:43

I have been watching with interest, and have to say the terrible side effects make me want to run a mile!

I have been using bumble and bumble thickening serum, and that ime does work.

AnnMumsnet · 18/03/2014 12:31

OK message from RapidHair has been sent to LackaDAISYcal and CelticJuggler who reported issues - this advises them to stop using the product and explains that it's an atypical reaction.

WRT to the animal testing allegation, RapidHair have given us a statement about that here from their parent company. Hope that helps.

500internalerror · 18/03/2014 14:38

I haven't used it for a few days now - I was unwell, plus I'm just feeling very uneasy about it based on this thread :(. Sorry mumsnet.

MimsyBorogroves · 19/03/2014 14:39

Thanks for the animal testing statement Ann. I couldn't find anything on the PETA website.

I'm still applying daily but still no flowing mane!

LackaDAISYcal · 19/03/2014 14:47

Thanks Ann :)

BabieThePicess · 20/03/2014 12:59

Sorry for the delay in posting my feedback

~ What is your hair type? (thin, fine, course, wavy, straight etc.)
my hair is wavy

~ What is your hair style? (short, medium, long, coloured, highlighted etc.)
my hair is long below shoulder lenght, had it treated to make it look straight a few weeks ago

~ Does your hair appear to have got thinner in the last 5-10 years? What life events have affected your hair and how?
my hair doesn't appear that much thinner, but I am loosing an awful amount daily, and it got worst since my daughter's birth 2 years ago

~ Do you regularly use heat styling products (e.g. dryers, curling tongs, straighteners etc.)
I do use straightener daily

~ Have you previously tried any other Rapid products? (RapidLash, RapidBrow, RapidShield)
I have never used any Rapid products before

~ What was your overall first impression of the RapidHair product?
the bottle was really small, I am not sure there will be enough for the 60 days trial, I will stick to the recommended amount but I don't think it is enough to cover my whole scalp, I would have never paid the rpp considering the size of the bottle

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 22/03/2014 21:25

Still nothing, no extra thickness, still look bald in my parting, no change in condition.

waitingforgodot · 24/03/2014 22:00

ok so I can't see any noticeable difference but my friend saw me the other day and said "what have you done to your hair? It looks lovely!" Will persevere

AnnMumsnet · 26/03/2014 11:42

FYI the 2nd lot of questions will be posted here next week - will email all testers a link.

Thanks
