To celebrate the launch of Shared 4GEE Plans from EE we're now on the lookout for 10 MNers and their families to try out the new Shared 4GEE Plans and to add feedback on it on MN.

EE say: "We're always working on new ways to give you great technology at great value which is why we've launched a totally new type of plan, Shared 4GEE Plans. You can share a 4GEE plan with up to four friends or family members or even with your own tablet and laptop. Everyone gets unlimited minutes and texts and loads of shareable data on just one simple bill. This makes managing your families devices easy and can save you a packet!"

Specifically, EE are looking for people who:

  • Are over 18
  • Are currently considering changing to the Shared Plan from EE (have looking into it and decided its right for you)
  • Have just finished or are nearing the end of your current pay monthly contract. Please note, providers may charge you for terminating your contract early.
  • Have children whose mobile phone bill is paid for by you. (If your children/ child has a pay monthly phone, they will need to have finished or be near the end of their contract).
  • Are based in the UK and live in a 4GEE area (as the plan includes superfast 4G data) check if you're in a 4GEE area here

    What the project involves

If you're selected to take part you will

  • Need to visit your local EE store with your family members who will be on the Shared 4GEE Plan so everyone can choose the handset of their choice and get personally set up on the Shared 4GEE Plan by an EE expert.
  • You'll then be required to try out the plan for three months and add your feedback to a thread on MN (approximately once a month.)

With regards to paying for the contract participants will:
  • Need to pay the full amount for the first 3 months
  • After the 3 months period testers will continue with the contract with an exclusive discount of 40% for the remaining 21 months.

So, to summarise, each of the 10 selected testers and their families will receive a free handset of their choice (including HTCs smart phones) as well as 40% off their bill for 21 months.

If this sounds right up your street and you meet the criteria above please add your details here and we'll be in touch with those shortlisted in the next couple of weeks.

Please note those shortlisted to take part will need to have a credit check to see if theyre eligible to take part.
Please see here for the full terms and conditions for this promotion. Please only sign up if you're happy and fully understand the T&Cs.

Thanks - please ask any questions below and we'll come back to you soonest.

I am amazed by the response from EE. I have been contacting them several times a week for the past 3 months and have made no progress. It has cost me a lot of time and money. They have told me the problem is because they have decommissioned masts. They have told me my lack of service could go on indefinitely. I am so disappointed that you are running this offer with EE - how can you be a party to such poor service and a company that causes misery? Families need to be able to communicate with each other and with EE that's not possible.

I work in central London, near Trafalgar Square. I often have no service or limited service. The other evening, I was meeting a friend and was running late, so sent her a text (she is also with EE). She got the text the next morning.

We lived in France until earlier this month and the service there from Orange was shit as well - texts turning up three days later, calls going straight to voice mail. I was looking forward to coming back here and getting good coverage and service. As I've said - giff gaff is the way to go.

After reading this is EE (Orange, T Mobile) actually going to acknowledge that EVERYONE (nearly) is having a terrible time using their services. That comment from them says absolutely nothing really.
If so many people are so dissatisfied then that is a genuine problem and one that needs resolving. All customers should be given a rebate which would at least help to smooth some of the bad feeling. If the current situation continues then EE will find that no one will be continuing their contract or taking up a new one as the ill feeling towards EE spreads.

Maybe the product test should actually be:-

"EE are looking for a hundred MNers to test their texting service. Mners selected simply need to send a text to someone on their own and another network and report back when it actually makes it to the other phone.

Based on current service, you will have up to 3 weeks to reply."

Well, I was thinking about staying with EE when my contract is up for renewal early next year.. Having read this, I think I'll try a new provider. I'm sick of rubbish customer service in this country and shame on you EE!!!

I use T-Mobile and have done for about 10 years. I've never had anything other than good customer service and a good phone service from them!
They offered me a great package as well and then continued it when I renewed my contract. I must be the exception Grin

Katy T Mobile was fine until it became part of EE. Orange is also crap now its EE and that was perfect before.

Report
KatyPutTheCuttleOn · 05/10/2013 16:48

When did T-mobile become part of EE? I think it's been a while; my old phone would say 'EE' on the display but my new one says nothing so I've no idea if it is EE or T-Mobile; it would randomly change from T-Mobile to EE to Orange and back again on the old one.
They have good local coverage here everywhere except in one supermarket where there is no signal at all; I think they must block mobile phone signals in there as I've never seen anybody in there on their phone.

Report
KatyPutTheCuttleOn · 05/10/2013 16:50

That is, not intentionally block them (AFAIK it's illegal) but a large metal shed with a high roof isn't really conducive to a good phone signal.

AnnMumsnet it's not just a signal problem, see my post. If it was just a signal problem I wouldn't be half as upset.

And get in touch? Excuse me whilst I pick myself of the floor laughing! They have no email (they used to when it was just orange but the move to EE and they got rid of all of them so you can only phone). However if you phone you get through (after 30 minutes) to someone utterly rude who cuts you off if you ask to speak to a manager or say anything they don't want to hear. They mis-sell contracts and then they break the law by refusing to let you cancel them during the legal cooling off period. Do you realise that you are trying to persuade people into this?

I had to get their compliance team email address from CISAS and they still haven't bothered to reply to that. I've now got a postal address but if other stories are to be believed, even signed for letters get ignored.

I cannot believe mumsnet is encouraging people to get themselves tied in with the utter misery of being with this company. Maybe you should read some independent reviews before you take just anyone's advertising revenue in this way.

I'm glad I came on this. Was just about to get a 5s on ee 4g now no chance. Ee will be history soon if it doesn't sort it's core services out.

EE you can take this as my notice since apparently I can't email you. Useless!

blondieminx · 07/10/2013 21:56

EE are hopeless.

In London, in both the square mile and in the Stratford/Olympics area the 3G (never mind 4G!) signal is patchy at best. Dropped calls, unable to send texts, mobile Internet won't load any pages. BBC watchdog article.

If you can get through to their call centres, they deny any issue. A glance at their fb/twitter pages and this thread shows that I'm not the only unhappy customer.

Oh and then raising the price of the shoddy service, mid-contract.

Seriously folks, avoid EE. Sad

Manchesterhistorygirl · 08/10/2013 12:57

So I called to officially hand in my 30 days notice amd apparently the patchy service is only in manchester

Oh no. T Mobile used to be great. Now they're EE they are awful. I can't get a signal in my house. Important calls get cut off and I have trued ringing them to see if I can get any kind of booster for the house, I'm sure tgey do them, but no, reset your settings, wait a few days yadada. Dp and I have been with them 10 years, dd was with them and we had a tablet with them, we have already moved dd and the tab and we will be leaving when our contracts run out.

I'm with EE and havent had any problems Confused.

DD is now out of contract and DH's is up next month so I'd love to give this a go. I also have a dongle for my laptop which is with T-mobile so I've been looking at these sharing plans anyway. Looks as though it'd actually be a lot cheaper.

Fingers crossed for this one!

I've applied for this and am quite interested. I've spoken to people who are on EE in my area and nobody has anything negative to report. DD1 is on EE and is happy, but she's currently got a really old basic phone (which she is terribly ashamed of).

When will the decision be made as to who the testers are? My contract is out, and my current phone has had a bit of an accident so I'm looking to enter into a new contract sooner rather than later. And DD1 is constantly moaning about her phone.

TequilaMockinBird · 16/10/2013 10:08

Yes, I also have a daughter moaning about her upgrade, but don't want to do anything until the chosen ones have been picked!

Any idea how long it'll be please MNHQ?

Just posting back in fairness to say that I've just switched from EE to O2 when I rang to EE for my PAC code thing they were really helpful and when I said that the reason I was moving was of poor signal she agreed and said that they had removed several masts in my area. So I know I have moved but just wanted to post back and say I'd had a good experience customer service wise (I was out of contract though).
