NOW CLOSED: Breastfeeding / expressing for your baby/ child? Want to try the new Philips Avent Comfort Electric Breastpump (RRP £115)? Testers needed

We've been asked by Philips Avent to find 20 Mumsnetters who are currently feeding their child breastmilk to try out their brand new "Comfort Electric Breastpump" - RRP £115 ? this will be sold via Mothercare from January before becoming available at a wider selection of retailers later on.

Philips says "Extensive research shows us that comfortable positioning is crucial in helping mums express milk more easily. The Philips AVENT Comfort breast pump is the only pump that allows mums to express in a more relaxing, reclined position, preventing backache caused by leaning forward through its ergonomic design. The Comfort breast pump is intuitively easy to use and features an innovative, active massage cushion which feels warm and natural on the breast. Its soft silicone petals gently massage the breast to stimulate the let-down reflex, encouraging milk flow and supply.

"The Philips AVENT Comfort electric breast pump is equipped with three simple settings and a stimulation mode so you can choose your most comfortable milk flow".

"Each feature of the Comfort breast pump is designed to encourage mum to feed breastmilk to her child for longer whilst making the whole experience easier and more comfortable".

Selected testers will need to try the pump for a couple of weeks and then to add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet. We'd also want you to add a review to the breastpump review area on MN.

The product test is open to all UK MNers who are currently breastfeeding or expressing for a baby/ child - the product will be sent out in the next week or so. You will be able to keep the pump after adding your feedback.

Really like the sound of being to sit back and pump. I always find myself hunching over when I pump. Would love to give this a try.

Hey Juggling with possibilities- I don't think anyone chooses just to express, it tends to be a choice made for us. In our case I my baby has a cleft palate and she can't feed from the breast.

As several other people have said it would be great to be able to SIT BACK while pumping.

I guess if I'd thought about it more carefully I would have realised that some people need to express and not only due to their own circumstances such as work or other commitments.

Just to say, some mums do choose to exclusively express or express and mix feed - I've read storied from women who just hate the idea or sensation of feeding direct, and others who want the flexibility. Interesting article in NY Times a while back from someone pumping because it was more convenient and time-efficient than sitting for hours cluster feeding etc... I can relate!

I would be really interested - am breastfeeding an 8 week old and trying to express so my husband can feed her when he gets in from night shifts (he gets 6 hours sleep at work lucky thing)!

It's odd - there are loads of people on here saying they express at work and yet my office looked at me like I'd grown another head when I mentioned it!
Tbf they were very accommodating but the initial reaction was total shock that someone might want to do it at work!

I have done and will do it at work but wouldn't say they were accommodating. It involved a stool and a store cupboard and well labelled containers . New job this time so yet to find a comfy cupboard!

Done. I need to express some milk for a Christmas thing coming up but have horrendous memories of expressing for DS so have been putting it off.

Jumping some people really do only express, honest :) It's absolutely exhausting though as you're doubling your workload and I can't see why people would actively choose it as their #1 option. In my case, DS was tiny and too weak to suckle effectively so it was that or formula. I fainted a fair few times from low sugars and exhaustion so being able to lie back and express would have been a life saver for me.

I would really love to be picked for this one if it's not too late. I'm a veteran expresser! I almost exclusively expressed for my first child for 16 months, until her sister was born (exhausting but worth it). DD2 fed well from the breast but I continued to express twice a day so DD1 could have a big glass each day too. Now feeding DS1 who is only 13 weeks, and I will need to go back to work soon

Each time I have rented a double electric pump from Medela, at a fairly massive cost when it all adds up. I would really like to be able to buy a pump that has the durability to fill this role without being forced to rent one, so I would be very excited to give this AVENT one a go. I currently own an AVENT manual which has the special shield position to allow you to sit back, and it's pretty good - hopefully this one would be even better!

I'm new to mumsnet & to being a mum so pleasebgorgive my hicups . Have just changed my profile name &wasn't sure if had to have current name when applying for things like this.
Like previously said it would b brill if I got chance to try this pump. I am currently bfing my 5week old baby &have been suffering from back ache due to positioning when using medula pump

DS is 7 months now and is at nursery one morning a week to get him used to the place before I go back to work in January. I'm mostly having to send him in with formula as I'm crap at expressing. I have a manual Avent pump but I've never been able to express much. I'd really like to keep breastfeeding if I can when I'm back at work, but without a pump I can use easily I can't see that happening.

I would love to try it, we have a 5 day old son and we have just purchased the Medela Swing. I have just started expressing in the last couple of days and would love to compare products and see if the Philips Avent "Comfort Electric Breastpump" is more comfortable and more effective.

I have a crappy hand pump, and with Dd just getting over Bronchiolitis, I need to get my supply back on track. Also my pump gives me cramp, squeaks and well is shite
