We have a very exciting event and product test for you to take part in - PlayStation would like to invite 20 Mumsnetters to attend an event in central London this Saturday (10 Nov) to showcase their new Book of Spells game. Here's a word from PlayStation about this magical new game: "The Book of Spells will be one of the must have family gifts this Christmas. It's a book that, with the help of PlayStation, literally comes to life on your TV screen, letting you live in the stories you love.

Featuring exclusive new and original writing from J.K. Rowling, Wonderbook: Book of Spells sends you on a fantastic journey to read and learn the secrets of wizardry and the art of spell-casting, just like a student at Hogwarts. On the way, you'll discover, practice and be tested on over 20 classic spells, such such as Incendio, Wingardium Leviosa and Expelliarmus."

For more info on the game see here.

We're looking for 20 Mumsnetters who:

~ Have at least one child aged 7-10 years (boy or girl)

~ Are able to attend an event in central London between 12 and 4pm (you only need to attend for one hour during that time) with their family (max 2 adults, 4 children)

~ Are happy to be filmed by PlayStation, and take some footage on their smartphone of their child(ren) before, during and after the event to capture the excitement!

~ Can be a PlayStation Mumsnet panellist afterwards - this will involve taking part in 4 activities over the course of the next year, such as testing new games with their child(ren) and much more

The event will be in a central London location (we'll confirm details with those selected). Travel expenses aren't covered but refreshments will be provided. If you sign up to attend during one of the lunchtime slots though, you will need to have some lunch before or after you attend - the refreshments provided will just be snacks.

You will only be required to attend for one hour, so please tick your first and second choices of time slots on the sign up survey (link below). During your session you and your family will be shown how to set up the game, how to play and you'll be given the opportunity to film your child(ren) playing the game.

After the event you'll be sent a Wonderbook PS3 hard bundle (PS3 console, Move Controller, PlayStation Eye, Wonderbook & Book of Spells) to keep (RRP £199). You'll need to film your child(ren) playing the game at home and send in your footage to Mumsnet. You'll also need to add your feedback on the event, and the game itself on a thread on Mumsnet.

The footage you and other Mumsnetters submit, as well as the footage PlayStation capture on the day may appear on Mumsnet and potentially elsewhere. Please only sign up for this if you're happy with that.

If you're interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks - we'll be in touch with selected Mumsnetters by Thurs (8 Nov).

I DON'T WANT TO GO TO WORK Sad

So unfair. We've been given a late slot (3-4) so atm DD is the only one dressed. I've made the boys shower, so they're still wandering around in towels despite me hassling them to get dressed in something nice for crying out loud I think DS1 is actually still eating breakfast...

We might have to recreate the reaction scene - I did it before we got the actual instructions, so am short with the time...

On train! Trying to film ds asking questions but it's a nightmare. Blooming tannoy announcents keep interrupting filming. This may take a while.

And other passengers looking at me like I'm a loon Grin

On train, but nearly missed it due to been stuck in a huge traffic jam for over half an hour. Ended up going on the verge and undertaking loads of cars. I'd never do that, shocked myself. They were all queuing to go right and I wanted left lane.

Filmed short bit on train but very noisy.

That was bloody fantastic! The game is brilliant. It's the best game console idea I've seen in a very long time. I can't wait to get home and have another go Grin

Ds currently sitting next to me on train singing "that was awesome, that was aweeesomeeeeeeee" in all different voices! The other dc are going to be amazed with it.

Thank you so much MN and Playstation.

Oh and lovely to meet some other mn'ers. Magna (think that's right?!) when you said about the woman with 5 kids poss preg again thread I nearly put my foot in it. I AM having another one but dc don't know yet. Lord knows how as it's pretty obvious as you could see I'm sure! But it was most definitely not me who started that thread!

You know what the worst part was?

The time it took from leaving the venue and getting the game installed!

I cant tear them away! Too dark to film now, but will continue tomorrow!

When they are doing the water spell, it really looks like somebody is sitting INSIDE the tv spraying water out towards us, the tv screen looks JUST like a window, and somebody is outside hosing it down.

It is the best and most advanced console I have ever seen. Well done Playstation!

Thank you so much for this opportunity!

Thank you mumsnet, and thank you playstation!

We were at the 1-2 session, I had blue top, dark hair and 2 blonde girls in striped tops and wellies, they really enjoyed themselves and we're very excited to see we got to bring the ps3 and game home ( I hadn't told them they would)
Dds are having fun with the game at the min, I will film them tomorrow when they are a bit more familiar with it ( and I have had a good clear up!)

Biscuit girl made me laugh, she tapped me on the shoulder and said " you just HAVE to try these biscuits, they're amazing" Grin my girls were also impressed with the biscuits, I had to stop dd2 eating as on every video I was recording she was stuffing her faceGrin

Well we didn't go just for the biscuits but they WERE very good ;). I was very impressed with the day. The demonstrators were very good and patient if they want to adopt I'll sign the papers. Only joking. I think the game sells itself as it so interactive even for a demo. The big selling point for me is that it can sit a child down for more than 5 minutes STILL. You can immerse yourself in the virtual world. 20 years ago we dreamed of such technology and now it is here.

We had a brilliant time - thank you mumsnet and play station. The game itself is just fantastic. I am waiting for the boys to go to bed so I can play! I reckon this will be a Christmas hit. Lovely to meet some fellow mumsnetters as well.

I'm shattered, forgotten how tiring I find London.

Somebody in the 2-3 session had fab boots.
