The folks at Incahoot.com are looking for 100 UK based Mumsnetters to try out their new Incahoot PLUS money saving scheme for one month and to give their feedback on MN. Here's what Incahoot say about the new service: "Here at Incahoot we have listened to what our members want and have launched Incahoot PLUS. This scheme gives you access to a fantastic range of offers which will save you money (up to £1000 a year!) on everyday shopping like Supermarkets, Clothes, Travel, Electricals and Entertainment".

Incahoot want 100 UK Mumsnetters to try the service for one month and leave feedback on their experiences twice during the course of the month. Each tester will be given a year's membership to Incahoot PLUS (worth £29.99) and will be able to keep this membership for the rest of the year once the month's trial is over. At the end of the year testers will be contacted by Incahoot to see if they wish to resubscribe - this will not happen automatically.

Once you are registered with Incahoot you will need to use your credit/debit card to top up the reloadable card and to receive the cashback in your account. These bank details are held on a third party's secure platform and Incahoot will not have access to them.

If you would like to take part please sign up here.
We will email those selected with the sign up details and a link to the feedback thread.

All those who are selected and add their feedback twice during the month's trial will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £250 Amazon voucher.

Please note, you may receive monthly newsletters from Incahoot as result of signing up, but you can unsubscribe from these emails at any time.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Christ. Mn
What are you thinking of?!!

TequilaMockinBird · 14/05/2012 16:32

Shock think I'll give this one a miss!

TheRhubarb · 14/05/2012 16:47

You could email MNHQ and say you want to opt out fuzzpig. I'd hate to think of someone being charged when they weren't expecting it, especially if they were trying to save money.

This sounds like a discount club which then charges you to send out vouchers which then negates the savings you've made. Plus if the savings are only around 5-10% on purchases that are not already discounted, you're actually worse off.

It's a bad idea.

KatieBMumsnet · 14/05/2012 17:28

Thanks to everyone who has signed up so far. We've shown Incahoot the responses/ queries on the thread and will come back to you tomorrow with a reply.

Im still going to keep my name in there, but I haven't given any card/bank details and I wont be either so if they do try to charge me for anything they wont get very far. I can't believe MN would be involved in getting us to do something this shady. MN what are you thinking?

FartBlossom · 14/05/2012 17:30

x posts there KatieB

KatieBMumsnet · 14/05/2012 17:46

Hi all,

We've just received this response from Incahoot:

"Incahoot PLUS uses the power of group buying to give you access to exclusive online and offline discounts which can be used nationwide.
The discounts come in the form of cashback, money off gift vouchers and online voucher codes, to name a few.

For example if you buy your weekly shop and petrol at Sainsbury's you will receive 5% cashback on the money you have loaded onto your Sainbury's reloadable store card (which you order through Incahoot PLUS). The cashback is then immediately credited to your Incahoot PLUS cashback account. You can choose which store specific card you would like from over 22 different retailers. These savings are available on top of any in store promotions, concessions or loyalty schemes. E.G if you have a student discount card (which gives 10% of at New Look) you will also earn 10% cash back, by loading funds onto your New Look storecard."

I'm not sure I can put money up front for things in this way at the moment- I wouldn't have expected to have to pay out so much in order to product test something. It sounds complicated and tbh a bit risky. Not sure the saving would be worth the hassle and the worry.

TequilaMockinBird · 14/05/2012 18:07

So you buy giftcards and load them with money, then spend them in the stores/online to get cashback? Hmm still not sure this is a good idea tbh

TequilaMockinBird · 14/05/2012 18:15

It's all explained in a bit more detail here, the discounts etc look good but I can't afford to reload store cards before spending Sad

HateBeingCantDoUpMyJeans · 14/05/2012 18:16

And need a different card for each store which means fees each time Hmm

HateBeingCantDoUpMyJeans · 14/05/2012 18:22

I just don't see how tge p&p plus load fees plus debit card fees leave you with any saving in normal spending.

TequilaMockinBird · 14/05/2012 18:26

So you'd have to load and spend £50 in Sainsburys just to get the £2.50 back which you'd spent on the card and the £50 load fee? I'd think you'd need to be loading and spending a lot for this to be worthwhile tbh

Unless my Maths is crap Grin

lumbago · 14/05/2012 18:27

Then the company goes bust. And you're buggered

QuintessentialShadows · 14/05/2012 18:45

I think advertising standards should take a look at that website.

MNHQ, I am surprised that you went to bed with Incahoots without properly realizing what they are doing. This is like a bad one night stand, without condoms.

"Savings club" my arse.

DaisyMaisyJessicaEmily · 14/05/2012 18:48

Have to say it is coming across as rather dodgy sounding.

ScorpionQueen · 14/05/2012 18:53

If I could just use them to source discounts/money off vouchers that would be ok. If I have to load cards with money then please don't pick me for the test, as I won't be able to do that.

FartBlossom · 14/05/2012 18:59

Agree if I have to pay any money upfront to pay onto a card or for any charges I dont want to know either. Seems just like a scam to me, sorry.

Firawla · 14/05/2012 19:14

same as scorpian - i have signed up but i don't want to use the preloaded cards so if that part is essential for the test then don't pick me please, but if we can test other aspects of the plus package, without having to pay towards it or giving card details etc eg discounts and money off, then im happy to do that side of it

FartBlossom · 14/05/2012 19:54

MNHQ can you ask them if this product test requires us to pay for anything please? I want to withdraw, but Id be gutted if I withdrew and found out I would have been ok anyway. Thanks :)

Rindercella · 14/05/2012 22:25

It sounds way too complicated for me. And bloody cheeky for there to be an upfront annual fee plus charges for cards, p&p and all the other things they charge for. AND who wants to carry a load more cards around in their purse/wallet? Surely one card should serve for all shops (like a Nectar card does).

Definitely not signing up to this and seems a really bad idea to me.

Hopefully this thread will be giving the company the feedback it is looking for Wink

LackaDAISYcal · 14/05/2012 23:59

I canc

LackaDAISYcal · 15/05/2012 00:08

Effing sodding not very smart phone!
I was trying to say that I can't make head nor tail of the website, or can even find the information contained in the criticisms above.

If I knew what it was about, I might be interested, but all I can see is me loading up yet more bits of plastic that I may not even use? What's the expiry on these cards? If I load up money, is it there forever, or would it need to be used within a certain time frame?
And having to pay for the service, and then cards, and p&p on top?
Sounds like money for old rope to me.

But please, incahoot, prove me wrong!

simperingsally · 15/05/2012 09:40

I have entered but like the others say if i have to pre pay or give card details then please dont pick me as we dont have a lot of money at the moment.

DamselInDisgrace · 15/05/2012 11:52

Wow. This sounds more than a little dodgy. I love how they charge you £30 a year for the joy of using their service, then charge you for everything they can think of (including getting your money back). What is the annual charge for, if not to cover the cost of actually providing the service?

The system sounds really stupid too. It's clearly been designed to extract the maximum possible in fees from people.
