Following the success of the KS1 panel recruitment and book reviewing Pearson are now looking to recruit a total of 15 Mumsnetters with a child aged 8-11 who are willing to review books from the Pearson range with their child.

To take part you need to:

~ live in the UK
~ have a child aged from 8-11 - in KS2/P4-P7 (If you have more than one child aged 8-11 please choose one child to take part in this review with)
~ be willing to review (and keep!) up to 3 packs of books before the end of the year to review (this might go into Jan)

You'll be asked to take a proper look at the pack, read the books with your child, maybe get together with a group of mums to see what they think, and then submit your review on a special review thread on Talk. Panellists will be asked to submit their reviews within 2 weeks of receiving their review packs. You must review each book pack you receive. If you want to opt out of the project you can at any stage by emailing MNHQ.

If you are selected to take part, MN will email you to let you know. We will then pass on your name, age and gender of your child, and address details to Pearson for them to dispatch your books.

Each panellist will be able to keep the packs they review. Pack values vary from around £7.00 to around £30.00 and contain up to 24 titles. As a thank you for taking part there will be a monthly prize draw (on the last day of each month) for all those who have submitted a review in that month. The prize each month will be £50 of John Lewis vouchers.

The reviews will be used by Pearson to help promote the books to other Mumsnetters ? they will link to the feedback thread from the book shop pages and will feature the reviews you send in on the site. Pearson also say "we want the reviews to help us refine and improve our selection of packs for the shop, so if a particular programme is receiving rave reviews, we'll add more titles into the shop and if something isn't being received well, we'll use this feedback to refine our offering."

So if you and your child would like to take part please add your details here

The first packs will be sent out in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks MNHQ

Done for dd1. She would love this.

florencepink · 12/10/2011 21:13

Done this for ds, he loves books but is just at a stage where if he gets bored I think he may prefer playing on xbox etc.. so anything to continue a love of books would be great Grin

DamselInDisarray · 12/10/2011 22:32

DS1 is 11 but not in KS2. He'd be in P7 if we still lived in Scotland.

WitchesBrewIsMyFriend · 13/10/2011 09:28

KS2 is from approx age 7-11 damsel so your DS is in KS2. KS3 is Secondary School and KS1 is the first part of Primary School after Foundation STage.

Its all very complicated. Confused

DamselInDisarray · 13/10/2011 17:30

DS1 is definitely in KS3 and at secondary school (year 7). He's 11 and won't be 12 til next summer.

WitchesBrewIsMyFriend · 13/10/2011 17:43

Of course he is damsel same as my DS also 11 in yr7, nearly 12! Dont our 'babies' grow up fast?

My fault, I misread your previous post and thought you thought your DS was in KS1... been a loooong week!

DamselInDisarray · 13/10/2011 23:31

It's ridiculous, isn't it?

DS1 would have loved some more books to read. He's a bookworm. Alas he is in KS3 and not eligible for this.

gazzalw · 25/10/2011 12:22

AnnMumsnet · 25/10/2011 13:45

I got mine today - DD is reading them now!

MiddleOfTheStreet · 09/11/2011 19:43

Ds1 received his today too. One he exclaimed immediately was excellent: "because it is about 101 things you can do against being bored"
he also went off to read them and didn't hear me call him to the table for dinner... looks promising.

MiddleOfTheStreet · 09/11/2011 19:45

oh and dh on seeing the package said "oh, for free from mumsnet? do they do tests on cars or phones as well?" Grin

AnnMumsnet · 09/11/2011 23:06

MiddleOfTheStreet - you've seen the work we do with Ford?! They aren't keeping them though!
Have been known to do product tests with the odd £1800 Fridge Freezer though Wink
