We’re pleased to announce the launch of a dedicated Medical Negligence Clinic in partnership with Duncan Lewis Solicitors, offering free online legal advice regarding clinical negligence in maternity and health care. Whether you’ve experienced issues during pregnancy, delivery, postnatal care, ongoing problems with your little ones or any medical negligence issues you wish to discuss, Nikki and Renu, who are experts in clinical negligence, are here to offer their advice.

Nikki, a former midwife with over 35 years of experience, is now a Senior Clinical Negligence Solicitor. She has first hand knowledge of the challenges in maternity care and uses her expertise to help those who have suffered poor treatment. Renu, a former Head of Legal Services for an Hospital Trust and now a Director at Duncan Lewis Solicitors specialises in clinical negligence claims and has a deep and comprehensive understanding of the complexities involved in cases like these. www.duncanlewis.co.uk/Renu-Daly-Clinical-Negligence-Solicitor-City-of-London-/#ClinicalNegligence

How it works:

The clinic takes the form of a Q&A on this thread and will run from Monday 21st to Thursday 24th October. Nikki and Renu will do their best to provide all answers during that time.

If you have a question about a complaint or legal claim with regards to maternity care, you can post your question in this thread. Nikki and Renu are ready to offer tailored guidance to help you understand your legal rights and options. Please include as much detail as you feel comfortable sharing, but remember this is a public forum – you may wish to avoid naming specific healthcare providers or hospitals in your post.

Please send your name by private message to @LegalClinicAdvice for a conflict of interest check. We cannot post a reply until you have sent this information by private message.

Your question will be reviewed, and you’ll receive advice directly in the thread or via private message if necessary.

Terms and Conditions:

Please note that the advice given will be based solely on the information you provide. It is specific to your circumstances and may not apply to other individuals reading the thread. We always recommend seeking further legal advice to confirm your next steps, as every case is unique. This clinic is an opportunity for you to understand your legal options and gain confidence in moving forward. Nikki and Renu are volunteering their expertise to support this clinic. Mumsnet and our legal partners take confidentiality seriously, and any personal information shared privately will be held securely and deleted after 18 months.

This is an interesting way to get more work!

EdgeOfReality · 21/10/2024 23:35

Does this include births from the 2000’s ? Or is it just for recent mums?

PeepDeBeaul · 22/10/2024 01:34

I've sent you a PM regarding a complicated set of circumstances. Sorry it's a bit of an essay.

Also quite handy if you are not sure if it's worth pursuing a case. It's a lots of stress to go through. It would be very disappointing to go through it all only to find there's no case to be answered.

Hi EdgeOfReality,

It can include births from the 2000s, so please do get in touch with your query.

Kindest,

Anyone can go to a lawyer and get that advice, this is drumming up work but obv in a clever way as I said.

Hello @OldieButBaddie - we want to clarify that first and foremost, these experts are generously offering their time and advice entirely free of charge, with no expectation or obligation for Mumsnetters to become clients. The aim of these Q&A sessions is to provide valuable, accessible legal information for those who may not otherwise have access to such expertise and those seeking preliminary guidance before considering further action. As with all our expert webchats, we carefully select professionals who align with our ethos of making parents’ lives easier, and we encourage users to make informed decisions about whether or not they wish to pursue further legal advice beyond this session. If at any point someone wishes to engage further legal services, they are, of course, free to choose any firm they feel comfortable with, and there is no pressure to engage with the experts featured in any of our Q&As. We hope this clears up any concerns, and we're grateful for the solicitors’ time and insight.
