We're chuffed that Jamie Oliver is paying a return visit to Mumsnet this Thursday. His first MN webchat was back in 2010.

Jamie has a new book out, Save with Jamie: Shop Smart, Cook Clever, Waste Less (all subjects dear to MNers' hearts). It has 100 brand-new recipes designed to be accessible, reliable and, above all, affordable.

This is what Jamie says about his new book: "For years I have been telling people that if you look back through history, the best food in the world has always come from communities under massive financial pressure. But the proviso is that you MUST be able to cook! If you can't, and have no money, that is where the trouble starts. This is a cook book which, from start to finish has tasty recipes, all dedicated to great value, is a brilliant weapon to have on the shelf, and is relevant to every household. If you use this book the way it's intended, you should end up saving a wodge of cash from your wallet."

And to tie in with the book, he has a new six-part series on Channel 4 starting on Monday 2 Sept at 8pm.

Please post your question and join Jamie for a chat at 2.45pm on Thurs.

that's good. hope it was worth the public flogging.

HoneyDragon · 29/08/2013 15:44

My favourite fruit salad is a pint of pear cider and a Bounty. (And its two of my five )

Can you come up with a more satisfying quicker treat at the end of a long day?

noobieteacher · 29/08/2013 15:44

Stein doesn't have copyright over German food ffs! Not buying that excuse. He didn't even like most of it (it seemed he was just being polite about it) and certainly only offered us one recipe on the website.

How about a central European book - would that bypass the media powers that?

When the time comes let me know if you need a translator xx

Genuine conversation with 2 year old
-Mummy why you laughing?
-There's a man on here who keeps saying silly things and getting in trouble with some ladies.
-Is it daddy?

Dejected · 29/08/2013 15:44

Oh dear too late for my question!

Gherkinsmummy · 29/08/2013 15:44

Buskerscat, so you have rice, chicken, one red pepper, red onion, garlic, chilli, tinned tomatoes, and a few herbs and spices. Cook the rice in the rice cooker. Brown the chicken in oil. Put it aside. Cook chopped onion, garlic in the chickeny oil. Add the red pepper. Fry for a few minutes. Chuck the chicken in. Add the tomatoes, chillis, herbs and spices to taste. if you have puree, add that, and if you have any stock, add that too, and if you have a slug of red wine, even better. How long you need to cook it for depends on what you are cooking - I've assumed chicken pieces? If a whole chicken you can potroast with these ingredients or roast and make a pepper sauce to add.

shenasseeds · 29/08/2013 15:45

Look at Jack Munroe...she does some brilliant recipes for under that price.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 29/08/2013 15:45

Oh no :( I was really hoping he'd answer my question. Oh well I guess it got lost in the fights :(

Thank you anyway Jamie. And great news about the vege book :)

Trigglesx · 29/08/2013 15:45

AFish Grin Love it.

CorrinaKedavra · 29/08/2013 15:46

"Is it Daddy"? Grin

Are you Jools?

JamieOliver · 29/08/2013 15:46

Thanks for having me today Mumsnet, always nice to touch base with you guys.

If there's anything I can do in the run-up to Christmas, just shout. Cooking every day, writing recipes every day etc. If you fancy coming to see us on foodtube, which is on youtube, that's quite cool - lots of new talent and I think you'll really love Kerry Ann, a great chef, cooking on a tight budget, she's brilliant amongst other unknown cooking talent. If there's anything else i can help with like I said, let me know.

Jamie Smile

BuskersCat · 29/08/2013 15:46

LittleAbruzzenBear · 29/08/2013 15:47

SeaSickSal · 29/08/2013 15:47

Vivacia · 29/08/2013 15:48

guess what girls, it's all girls

Oh dear.

Never mind Jamie I think you could have handled things a lot worse.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 29/08/2013 15:48

Thanks for coming Jamie, although I'm sad my question got lost amongst all the other stuff. Hi to Jules, if you're reading!

cazakstan · 29/08/2013 15:48

Hi Jamie....I'd just like to say that you're such an inspiration and that I like many others have watched you since the early days...you are and always have been a breath of fresh air. I have 2 daughters of almost 23 and 27...(we're on birthday countdown to monday for my youngest..who wants mussels and chocolate trifle for her birthday dinner)...when 30 minute meals came out it was a great christmas 'cos we had all bought a copy for each other...they are well used. We all love cooking and I am very proud of the fact that both my daughters cook well...even my eldest daughters bf cooked for us one evening and while he was cooking we knew instantly that those sweet potatoes with chilli, mango chutney and coriander was yours. Thank You so much.

Vivacia · 29/08/2013 15:49

AFish

I think that's the first thing that's made me actually LOL on Mumsnet!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/08/2013 15:49

A question for MNHQ - does Jamie keep his MN membership now?

MmeLindor · 29/08/2013 15:49

Lets do a MN German Recipe book. I have loads of recipes.

I thought you handled that well, Jamie, and am going to put it down to some MN coaching by your wife. Wonder if she posted on the thread. She must have wanted to.

shenasseeds · 29/08/2013 15:49

Can you do a guest blog for us? a really simple economical recipe for kids and parent to prepare together...

AFishWithoutABicycle · 29/08/2013 15:49

My cover is blown!
Jamie's I told you not to say 'girls' ;0)

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/08/2013 15:49

Darkesteyes · 29/08/2013 15:50

Hes used the phrase "What you CHOOSE to feed yr kids and above says he isnt poor bashing but gets baffled by their choices and priorities.

When someone tells you who he is please listen!

HoneyDragon · 29/08/2013 15:50

Well. I'll bugger off and make a blackberry and custard cake now.
