Anyone been? It's coming to Edinburgh and I was thinking of taking me DS 6 and nearly 4. Do you think 4 is just a bit young?.. Any advice and recommendations greatly received!

I'm not sure if your 4 yo would sit through it. It's not the most exciting of musicals, but it is very good. If you think that your children can sit through it then go for it. Hold their hands during the childcatcher scenes (act 2) if they might be frightened.

I didn't start taking mine to the theatre until they were 5, but I think you'll be the best judge. Mine all really enjoyed it!

My DD (nearly 4yo) loves this film and has seen it a fair few times. I would definitely take her to see the show. I suspect the child catcher part will be scary and quite real for them though, so either take something to distaract them at that point or warn them in advance. Depends on your children though.

Thanks! To be honest I was in a bit of a pickle. I have already bought 3 tickets for my mum, Ds 6 and myself and didn't bother for DS3 (who will be 4 come show).
I then got the DVD and DS3 is hooked and my DH gave me such a hard time saying why did you only get three tickets........so (yawn, yawn) I phoned to be told no tickets anyway near the others so I thought I would get a reaction from Mumsnet so my mind can be put at rest that yes...too young. Won't even tell DH that I phoned!

Golly..just read this back and I sound neurotic! Have a DS 6weeks so brain still mush with all the sleep deprevation!

I have decided not to take dd yet who is 4 and a half as she is too young for the childcatcher and it is a long time to have to sit through a show.

She is used to going to the theatre, I just feel she is not quite ready for Chitty.
