Funny how others posted serious questions that didn't get posted, and Cod posted trivia that all got on. Who runs Mumsnet these days?

zippitippitoes · 27/02/2006 20:18

I presumed that mn towers selected the questions..is that no the case?

and I would like a thread put up with the questions which were put which didn't get picked from this thread, I am interested to see the whole picture

Rhubarb · 27/02/2006 20:26

Sorry, but there were about 5 Cod associated threads whilst the live chat was going on, and whilst I posted questions about special schools, these were not put on whilst Abba questions were deemed to be suitable.

It's not Cods fault, she appears to have a merry band of worshippers that are quite frankly getting on my tits. I joined Mumsnet, not Codsnet.

I'm not flouncing, but I think it's time I gave it all a rest.

Hulababy · 27/02/2006 20:55

He was never going to be able to answer all questions and was always likely to pick a selection of both serious and light hearted questions. Surely?

I think it seemed to go pretty well, from what I have read on here. Quite a few questions were answered within the time period.

Maybe we need more of this type of think on MN - not just politicans either. Why not a whole range of people from society, celebs and non celbs, different professions. I think Q&A seems quite a good idea.

Furball · 27/02/2006 21:03

Tech has admitted he posted one of cods questions by mistake

Furball · 27/02/2006 21:06

Rather than a live chat maybe gather the questions the week before for them to be answered, then maybe more of a 'sift through' would sort out the most popular sort of questions. Rather than a quick hour trying to read gosh knows how many questions and not really being able to see the wood for the trees IYSWIM.

LIZS · 27/02/2006 21:20

Wasn't that the point of the other thread, to post questions in advance, although I'm not sure if those were the questions which appeared or if they had been posted directly onto this thread .

Furball · 27/02/2006 21:23

Yes, but did DC get to read them in advance?

cod · 27/02/2006 21:35

was it not a success then?

I missed it

Heathcliffscathy · 27/02/2006 22:00

rhubarb, far be it for me to be a cod apologist (am not one) but trivia questions are a)easier to answer b) faster to answer c) break up the unrelenting earnestness of it all (my question was v earnest btw) and you'll note that most if not all the trivial questions did get answered, willows and cds included.....from a dave ( :o ) cameron PR point of view, they give a flavour of 'the man' and therefore were probably actively encouraged....

i don't think it's about cod, more about the type of question tbh.

JanH · 27/02/2006 22:02

Rhubarb did say "It's not Cods fault" so she's not blaming cod.

Whizzz · 27/02/2006 22:04

I'm not a politics type person - I know I should be but little grabs me in the scale of things. I did think ths was an interesting chat (can't beleive you asked about ABba Cod & that he replied Dear Cod !)
Interested in Meyseys Qu - haing just decided to walk away from my hard earned professional qualifications due to being 'written' off (or so it seems) for wanting to work reduced hours now my DS has started school. Although DCs answer didn;t help much !

So who has written to him? I missed all this live, but have just written him a lengthy response to his answer to the breastfeeding question Grin.

I did praise him on the rest of his answers of course, to butter him up, esp. Abba.

UCM · 28/02/2006 00:59

It was like a 'pop music' newsnight Smile. Very fluffy and TBH I really thought that he would NOT be like a real politician, he is Bliar reincarnate. I am very very depressed, not because I want to vote tory, I just want someone to be refreshing and have some new policies....like..... re introduce tax breaks for married couples. And stop me paying tax twice on my childcare!!!

UCM · 28/02/2006 01:00

Sorry the married should have read cohabiting couples....Smile

geekgrrl · 28/02/2006 07:04

well, I thought he was flakey and evasive on so many issues - schooling, breastfeeding, flexible working to name a few. Quite a disappointment really. (Not that I would vote for him anyway, but still...)

geekgrrl · 28/02/2006 07:08

oh, and I completely agree with Rhubarb - why on earth give him 2 trivia questions to answer when he only answered so few questions anyway? It really doesn't matter one flying what he likes on telly/ what ABBA song. :( There were serious questions to be answered and you chose those???
Makes it seem like mums are too dense to be interested in actual politics.

cod · 28/02/2006 07:13

i truly cant blieve how htis has become another slag off cod htin

( tired emotiocn)

goies off to administer justice

geekgrrl · 28/02/2006 07:25

cod I wasn't slagging you off - you didn't select the questions.

noddyholder · 28/02/2006 07:39

I do agree that one question each should have been enough but the content of the questions is up to the individual

PeachyClair · 28/02/2006 09:59

Do you think he was a slow typist, or just p'ing himself laughing at having to wite to people by their chat name? can' be often he starts a letter 'Dear Cod...'

Who saw him on BBc Breakfast todat mentioning mumsnet? And being told off for using disposables? Hilarious! You could tell the researchers had been online.

Apparently we're a great site for young mums. Should I leve in elderly (I am 32 btw) shame then? Grin Wink

ruty · 28/02/2006 10:19

seemed to me he was trying to say lots without saying anything at all. Totally evasive and sounded like he was quoting from a policy document. Also a touch patronising, especially about breastfeeding.
