Could we have someone from Childline or similar on for a webchat?

Or from the Police to talk about how best to protect our children from harm.

I find it worrying that many people focus on things like cameras in playgrounds, or phones in schools rather than the real danger that our children face.

When I was in Germany, we asked the Kindergarten to arrange a parents' evening with the Police about this topic and it was very interesting.

They told us about what pedophiles are looking for, how they choose their targets, and how we can best protect our children.

It was more about making the children more confident and ensuring that they know that they can say when they are feeling uncomfortable with someone.

I would be interested to know what the advice in UK is.

yep. great idea.

tabouleh · 04/11/2010 22:16

this would be very useful

is there (in the UK) a national strategy on how this is taught about in schools - remember "stranger danger" but of course we know now that persons known to a DC are of greater risk etc..

Yes I think its a good idea as well. I'm struggling with pitching information at the right level for my DS's (7 and 4) - don't want to frighten them but equally want to equip them with knowledge at a sensible level.

thanks tabouleh.

I agree would be a good idea.
