We're delighted that the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, will be joining us for a webchat this Thursday evening 8 and 9pm.

Next week the Deputy PM will be joining other world leaders, celebrities and business leaders who are gathering in New York for the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Summit. He will be aiming for global action to reduce the shocking number of women who die during pregnancy and childbirth in the world's poorest countries.

Nick is happy to answer your questions on the UN summit as well as on his role as Deputy Prime Minster. Join us on Thursday evening or if you can't make it along then post your question (one each only please) here.

Thanks.

yet again I feel completely let down, why can't politician just give a straight answer - don't know how old his kids are but just wait till they get to teenagers - he'll have to learn how to talk straight then...

sethstarkaddersmum · 16/09/2010 21:17

Thank you for coming Nick, and good luck with your very difficult job!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 16/09/2010 21:18

How on earth is the private seactor likely to help MDG's ( whilst creating anticipated job's bonanza as a result of the cuts Hmm)?

Tine of Nestle anyone?

LadyBlaBlah · 16/09/2010 21:18

You didn't miss much Riven

There is no way on earth he would have answered questions about DLA

Thanks for coming nick, it was good that you did. Come back again sometime. But know that we're a disillusioned lot looking for real answers.

Thanks again.

ruthie48 · 16/09/2010 21:19

Enjoyed,night night mum,s.xx

madhattershouse · 16/09/2010 21:19

Next time maybe we should see the organ-grinder and not the monkey!!

ShirleyKnot · 16/09/2010 21:20

This whole thread is utterly depressing and a sad indictment of the politics of our county.

So many %

So many "in comparison with the last government"

"We are trying to sort out the problems the last government left us in"

"We have made a commitment to..."

"We are committed to..."

And in the end? The bitter old end?

We're all waiting for October 20th and then waiting WITH ANTICIPATION for the 20% VAT rise.

Please explain how this helps the poorest in our society?

It's common sense that the poorest will pay a higher proportion than the rich.

Sickening.

(I know you've gone Nick, but still, this is all nonsense, I'm so disappointed)

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 16/09/2010 21:20

tin Blush

Pah he's gone anyway, what a waste of an hour...

pollycazalet · 16/09/2010 21:20

Would have been better to have Andrew Mitchell on (who I do have time for - he knows his brief),

missbeehiving · 16/09/2010 21:21

Another politician who is an example of form over substance.Sad

tweetymum · 16/09/2010 21:21

First time I want to say this after a webchat.

'Whatever!!!'

ederner · 16/09/2010 21:22

Can you imagine what would happen if David Cameron came on? haha?
If Nick Clegg got this much of a roasting then imagine how much he would get?

ThatVikRinA22 · 16/09/2010 21:22

was he daft enough to think he could come on and answer questions solely about the summit? gawds strewth.

is that we got so few answers? was it a bit of a shock?

c0rns1lk · 16/09/2010 21:23

The 'P.S I am not a Tory' was a coffee over the keyboard moment for me. Bless.

pollycazalet · 16/09/2010 21:24

Bit disingenuous to say we were drawn off topic. We were invited to put questions on his role as DPM.

Mr Clegg - would your SpAds care to post and share lessons learned with us? Wink

leavingonajetplane · 16/09/2010 21:24

I think DC would get less of a roasting - people are getting what they must have essentially expected from the tories.

People feel very let down by Nick Clegg.

ruthie48 · 16/09/2010 21:24

Am just a nurse but who is Andrew Mitchell? (sorry)

msyikes · 16/09/2010 21:27

What did he say at the start? something like on MN 'opinion on the coalition is pretty mixed'

Mixed???

HA HA HA HA HA

pollycazalet · 16/09/2010 21:27

Andrew Mitchell is Secretary of State at Dpt for International Development

ledodgy · 16/09/2010 21:29

"PS. I'm not a Tory."

I'm sorry Nick but usually if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

taintedpaint · 16/09/2010 21:29

That's true leaving. From Dave we're getting classic Tory shite, from Nick we're getting....classic Tory shite. I guess on balance that does equal more of a disappointment in old Cleggy. Hmmm.

ruthie48 · 16/09/2010 21:29

Thankyou pollycazalet.x

cupcakesandbunting · 16/09/2010 21:30

Even though I feel utterly shafted by him, a tiny bit of me thinks that Nick might just reel Dave in from totally destroying us. Ever the pessimist, I am.

Oh please God, get Ravey Davey on! -sharpens claws-
