Mumsnet Manifesto for Election 2024

Hi all,
I wanted to let you know that over the weekend we launched our Mumsnet Manifesto for the next general election, with twelve policy asks based on the experiences you’ve shared on site over the years.

Mumsnet’s campaigns have always been led by what you’ve told us and the manifesto brings together a series of asks for the next government that reflect our campaigning work on women's health, women's safety, the Motherhood Penalty and political representation over the past twenty years. We want to raise women’s voices with every party so that whoever forms the next government has these issues at the forefront of their minds.

Please do take a look - we’d love it if you were able to raise any of the issues we’ve covered with your local candidates when you see them in person and/or via social media or email - you can find some suggested text at the bottom of this page and if you do, please let us know what they say!

Thanks,

Justine

It doesnt say anything about sex not gender to protect women, and the clarification required about this from political parties - surely one of the biggest threats at the moment to women's rights and voices?

Bit of a glaring ommission from a manifesto for females, and those females who are mothers - those pesky adult human females that birth their offspring which you say you represent?

Surprised there is nothing there about properly funded childcare.

It would be good if our voice concerning certain subjects was not censored by the monitors.

As fleadog says. The being kind movement is being less kind now. I don’t want to see those posters in London, of a girl looking agressive with double mastectomy scars. If they were of a black guy or skinhead there would be an outcry. I don’t want my daughter medicalised because she doesn’t like being girly.
I want to know what will be done about my daughter being radicalised by her school, by LGBTYS and Cahms- supposedly safe places. I want to know what will be done about men in women’s spaces, why I can buy testosterone from Asda, why laws are being changed for 0.5% of the population.
Feel very let down and unsupported by what’s happened.
thanks.

Number 11?

No mention in this of stronger action against men who do not support their children financially. Time for mumsnet to start a campaign on that.
