Triplet mums - when did you give birth?

I'm now 30 weeks pregnant with my triplets and wondering when to expect their arrival.
My consultant is hoping I will go to 34 weeks as am I but I read the average is 32 weeks. What are other peoples' experiences?

Also, I'm still pretty busy (nesting actually) but should I be trying to calm things down to avoid sending myself into labour?

How long did your babies spend in NICU?

Thanks xx

I can't believe how quickly time has gone, I remember you announcing your news!

Had mine at 32 weeks 4 days. Consultant thought I would make to to 35 but my waters broke without warning and babies arrived 3 hours later.

They spent 7 weeks in NICU/SCBU.

You probably should calm down a bit as it was the sheer weight of the waters etc that causing my early arrival - put your feet up !!

I know - time has gone really quickly. We've been frantic at home trying to get the place renovated before they arrive.
I think I will calm it now - watching 'One born every minute' on Tuesday frightened me a bit!
My daughter was born very quickly so I'm quite worried that my waters will go and the next minute I'll be pushing.
Fitzy - did you have yours by CS? It's what I'm planning especially as they're all breech at the mo.

eek, get your feet up woman. Put yourself on bedrest as of now!

I will (after DD and I have gone to Ikea in the morning)!

I went to 34+4 but once i got to 32 weeks I literally couldn't do anything but rest. I think that helped with not going into labour though because on the day of my C-section the walk from the car to the ward brought on labour! I don't think its unreasonable to get to 34 weeks, as long as you get the steroid injections before they are born - my 3 didn't need any special treatment when they were born and it was me needing a blood transfusion that kept us in hospital!

ladyandthechocolate · 06/04/2010 17:41

I've had the steroid injections. I had a chat with my consultant and she said she would rather wait and see how things go rather than plan an elective CS. This probably means I will go into labour before I am delivered electively (at 38 weeks if they haven't arrived before). I feel a bit like a ticking time bomb - just don't know when to expect them! I'm feeling ok really - think I could go on another month or so if I had to (I'm 32 weeks now). The longer the better for them obviously.

If you feel ok thats great! Obviously the longer they stay inside the better - and I must say my consultant would never have let me see how things go - C section was my only option. If all three are breach then I would have thought it would be a section.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you keep them cooking for a good few more weeks! Keep us updated.

Hi
sorry for the late reply. Yes - I had a section. I was given the steroid injection when i arrived in the labour ward and the ideal was to hold off on the birth and give it time to work but no 2's heart rate was slowing so it was in for a section asap.
i was sure that i was making 35 weeks and was very surprised when my waters broke. (i was induced 3 times with my son so felt my body didn't go into labour easily !!)
good luck

Hello
You may have already had your babies by now. Hope all is well!

I had my triplets at 35 weeks exactly. Two of my three babies were in special care for 3 weeks. My third daughter spent 3 months in special care, but she had a more serious medical complication.

Be prepared for a spell in hospital, and learn everything you can about the tasks you can perform for your babies while they are there, so that you don't feel so helpless. As you already have a child, you may find it easier to assert your Mum-authority than I did as a first time parent.

All best wishes for a safe delivery. Good luck!

I had my girls at 28 weeks +4 days. Horribly early; my singleton developed an infection in her placenta and pushed the eject button. They spent 9.5 weeks in NICU/SCBU, but thankfully all three are healthy and well today. Good luck with your three. The early days are hard work but amazing.
