I'm desperate for a c-section with my twins - am I worrying too much?

I've got a second degree tear that never healed after dd1. The twins will be dc3 and dc4.

My fanjo is already seriously damaged and I'm worried about the possibility of prolapse etc.

Anybody got any similar experiences? My patronising consultant tells me I've got an anxiety problem (which I don't). I just want to have a normal sex life without feeling like I've got a granny's fanjo....

HM, i am a big advocat of natural birth, and I do think that overall it is safer and healthier for mum and babies (even if it's twins and even if they're breech as long as you have good midwives)

I do also believe though that your feeling shsould be taken into consideration and it sounds as though your consultant is trying to railroad you. You should, of course, be making an informed decision not just jumping into it. BUt your consultant should be giving you valid reasons for/against both birth choices so that you can make a decision you're completely happy with.

So, I second/third/fourth? everyone who has said that you need to change consultant. because tbh if she carries on like this you're goign to end up not believing what she tells you because you feel that she is just pushiong you into doing what she wants and that isn't at all helpful.
it isn't too late to change, get your DH/DP to talk to them with you if need be and get someone a bit more sympathetic on side.

oh and do as much research about different births as humanly poss so that you know you've made the right decision

Thing is, if you have good midwives. Most midwives do not have experience of natural birth breach deliveries. Never mind twin breach.

If I knew my midwife had plenty experience of delivering breach, and I was only carrying a singleton I might try for a vaginal birth. Twins? I dunno. It'd have to be a pretty awesome midwife. I'd have to trust the team involved in the birth a LOT. Mango understandably has little trust in her consultant, it's just not the best situation really.

PLEASE get your DH/DP to get your consultant switched asap.

borderline LLP, twins are big enough to come out already, leading twin is breach?

Sorry, but if you want a CS, then you should have a CS! The danger here is that while the first twin is breach, you may be able to deliver vaginally, the delivery itself could turn the second twin, so might also end up breach, and then you could end up with an emergency c-section anyway.

I only have one DS, I don't know much aside from friends experiences and what I've read on MN..

what I would say though... if you're not confident that you can deliver them both vaginally, and you want a c-section, then I think you should really push for that.

Which hospital are you if you don't mind me asking?

p.s. congratulations on your imminent twins

I had a c-section as both our g/g twins were breech. It was planned ahead by 5 days. All very relaxed on the day and good recovery over the following weeks.

I can think of nothing worse than going through labour for 1 then crash section for other.

My midwife told me that these days there are very few midwives or consultants who are skilled in turning babies before birth.

Mango - it sounds like you have a consultant with very strong personal views. I think it is important for you to feel fully supported on whatever you think is best for you & your babies. If your current consultant is unable to give you advice & information and support your choice then consider insisting that another consultant take over.

I personally don't feel as I have missed out on anything - my birth experience is what it is, good care, safe delivery, joy when handed my babies.

Hope this helps.

my twins were VB Twin 1 was head down, but vbaced as he was presenting his ear first(wtf)and twin 2 was distressed, and breach...twin 2 has SN , and am wondering if her distress is the cause as no-one can tell me why she is the way she is.... i sometimes wish i had a c-section... LOW LYING PLACENTA? is that the same as placenta previa? thats reason enough for section... insist on one..... for you, your consultant is a twat.

Thank you all so much for your support. Finally, I called another London hospital this morning, and I've got an appointment tomorrow! I never thought that it could be so easy to swap hospitals. All I have to do is take a letter from my GP with the referral.

I'll keep you updated with how it goes...

I would simply refuse to see that consultant again.

She's pursuing her own personal agenda, and with a low-lying placenta/placenta previa and a lead twin who is breech, she's pursuing it at the expense of your and your child's health.

NOT ON.

Don't accept it.
