obstetric care on the NHS when expecting multiples

Just a curious question to other multiple mums. I have now had 5 obstetric appointments and have now seen 5 different registrars. While I've got my head round not seeing a consultant I have concerns about lack of continuity of care and building up any sort of relationship/trust with the medical team (especially as most of the information the registrars have given is conflicting).

I work for the NHS myself and if a patient is referred to me then I see that patient and they don't get passed around (unless in dire emergency) though I appreciate obstetric. clinics are different and very busy. I was just wondering really if it is our trust in particular, very common generally or if I have just been a bit unlucky? Be really interested to hear other peoples experiences

I had the same issue with my midwife, only saw my 'named' midwife twice before and once after.

But as for the doctor, I saw the same consultant for every appointment save one and that was because my consultant was on holiday and I had a problem with a scan. He also came to see me on the ward after I had the babies and gave me a kiss! Also made a trip to ICU to see the babies.

It was nice that every time I went to see the consultant I didn't have to spend 10 minutes explaining my history. I felt really well loooked after.

Sorry you're not feeling the same..

I saw lots of different midwives and consultants. There were a couple of excellent ones and one terrible man I should have complained about. Little continuity but they all seemed familiar with my notes, I generally felt I had been well looked after.

The consultant that was supposed to deliver us didn't appear on the day. My delivery was performed by a chap that I didn't actually see - he came in when the screen was up, pulled the babies out and disappeared before I saw him! You think as a rule you would say hello to the woman before slicing her open .

I've since Googled the chap and he is a pretty impressive specialist - works in all the posh private hospitals so I was in safe hands!
