Having a wobble after 32 week scan

As subject header says was just wanting to vent as had stressful afternoon. Expecting boy/girl twins and at last scan (28 weeks she was starting to drop in growth but still small end of "average"). Today scan showed she has dropped a lot - she is 3 lb 4 he is 3lb 13. Got ob. appt tomorrow but just wondering if anyone else had experienced similar and what the outcome was. (have been booked for a repeat scan next week). I guess if they need to get them out they need to get them out but they seem so tiny.

Scans are best guess scenarios, told me my first born was going to be well over 9lbs and a monster truck, she wasn't.

Same with my DT's told me they were small came out at 37wks 6lbs 2oz and 6lb 5oz. They are more to help but if they are causing you stress talk to the person doing the scan and your Dr.

Good luck on the fun rollercoaster that is twin pregnancy.

Try not to worry too much, hard I know! I had scary scan at 34 weeks - DT1 wasn't gaining weight, so I was booked in to see consultant the following week with a view to induction if necessary, went into spontaneous labour at 35 weeks, the day before the appt and they arrived that day, 4lb2 and 4lb6 at birth, no special care (but treated for jaundice) and are now a very healthy 5.4 years old!

Hi magnumum. What is the placenta flow like? Hope you got some more information at the hospital today. I am emailing you too.

My T2 was found to be growing slowly from 28/32 weeks. From then on, scans were done and placental blood flow was checked every fortnight. In the 37th week I had foetal monitors done every two days until I was induced at 38 weeks. T1 was born 6lb5oz but T2 was only 3lb11oz - even though scans had estimated him to be over 4lbs at 36 wks!

Although tiny (smaller than some 32weekers) I was told that he would do better than a prem baby of the same weight - and he did. NNU for 12 days, but once they took the blasted feeding tube out he sucked brilliantly and has gone from strength to strength. So, they don't necessarily like to whip them out early unless they're in distress, but rather you will be well monitored for the rest of your pg. Having said that, I'm sure each hospital and cons are different.

Best of luck.

Thanks ladies. Had 1st steroid jab yesterday, part 2 today so gearing up for early delivery. I know that in terms of gestation and weight we're not doing badly compared to many prem babies but I guess in an ideal world we'd all like to cook up for as long as possible. Thanks for your responses, always reassuring to hear positive outcomes.
