Hi all

I am new to mumsnet and have just had twin boys (born 9 Feb), going through hormonal hell adjusting to the new arrivals. Also have two other boys aged 5 and 3 and would love to chat with other mums in the same position and share the joys and sorrows (of which there seem to be many, but I am hoping that's just a phase!)

Hi Bmum1, congratulations on your new arrivals! I've got twin boys (18 months) - twins are fab as well as being bloody hard work sometimes!

KJTWINS · 18/02/2009 18:18

Just found out that DH has come down with tonsillitis to add to the fun of newborns! Hurrah. Still it's good to hear twins are fun in the long run. Please no negative news at the moment it is sure to push me over the edge!

Hi Bmum - just wanted to say congratulations on your new arrivals. No wise words to pass on (25 weeks pregnant with boy/girl twins and have 2.5 dd though so feel it highly likely I'll be posting something similar come June!)

duckyfuzz · 18/02/2009 19:30

congratulations bmum

my twins are now 5 and quite lovely most of the time, but it is hard - I wish I'd had mumsnet to turn to in the early days/weeks/months

good luck, keep posting!

Bmum1 · 18/02/2009 20:01

Thanks, and will keep posting. My youngest (before twins) is 3yrs 3 months so the baby stuff seems like ages ago now, and anyway there are two this time so I will need all the advice and support I can get.

Congratulations on your twins! I have 14 mo old little gents who are absolutely fantastic!!! They are just so amusing and maddeningly cute, DH and I keep gushing, daily, how very lucky we are to have them .
To be honest, I expected twins to be such hard work and was rather terrified over how I would possibly cope, but so far it has been remarkably easy.
Enjoy your little ones!

MarsLady · 19/02/2009 01:17

Welcome! I have g/b DTs who are now 5. My adorable wee weapons of mass destruction... oops! No honestly I wouldn't be without them

You'll come through this time. Do enjoy their tiny stage as much as you can. Seems to fly by with DTs.

throckenholt · 19/02/2009 07:51

congratulations - and hang in there - mine are now 6 and life is quite good .

Hope DH gets over the tonsillitis soon - it can be very nasty - and you need all hands on deck at present.

Advice - do whatever you need to get through the first year - and ignore all helpful advice from anyone - especially those who don't have twins .

Bmum1 · 19/02/2009 08:49

So nice to hear how much people are enjoying their twins. You hear so many horror stories it can leave you terrified. Mine have been little angels so far, but it's early days! I love them so very much though, and as they are my last go at the newborn stage I am determined to enjoy them through all the hard work. Thanks to bloody hormones this has proved a bit of a challenge, but every time I hold them I just feel so happy to have my darling twin boys that even the tears and fears seem worthwhile (well almost!).

Hi Bmum1. Congratulations on the birth of your twins and welcome to mumsnet!

I discovered mumsnet around the time I found out I was expecting twins (now 28 weeks with non ID girls) and the positive stories really inspired me to be more excited than scared!

Come join us on this thread which is mostly people who've recently had twins like you, plus hopefuls in the wings like me.

The ladies on the D'y ever threads this is the most recent one have mostly got older multiples now, but they are so helpful and friendly so drop in there when you can too.

I look forward to learning from all your twin experience by the time I have mine!

Frangipani74 · 19/02/2009 20:37

Congrats Bmum1, as 1stMrsF said come join us on the 'Anyone else pregnant with twins.....' thread when you get a few spare minutes. How was the birth? What did they weigh? What are their names?

Bmum1 · 20/02/2009 08:44

Hi, popped into the Pregnant with twins thread, thanks 1stMrsF, and Frangipani74 the boys were born by c-section at 37 weeks at The Portland, which was a lovely experience compared to my previous NHS births, though I must admit recovering from the operation has proved more of a challenge than I anticipated. They are 11 days old now and I am still sore, especially at night, and not being able to drive is a real pain as we don't have a car that will fit the whole family in yet.

Anyway the boys were born on 9 Feb weighing 5lb 15oz for twin 1, Jonah and 6lb 6oz for twin 2, Zach. Both boys are adorable and Jonah has already regained his birth weight, while his bigger brother is well on the way.

They are baby brothers to Jacob, 5 and Max, 3 - who are both sitting in bed with me as write! Twins are fast asleep with my mum who very kindly agreed to do the night shift for me after a big bout of baby blues the other day.

Wow 4 boys, that will keep you fit and active! Sounds like one big happy family. Hope you recover from you op soon.

Bmum1 · 20/02/2009 10:04

Yes, should be fun in the end and hopefully will finally help me shed my preggie belly once they are all running around.
