slap who?

KingHerodNametaken · 08/01/2009 18:24

people who think having 2 children separately is the same price as having twins. On that thread.

Oh God, I've done the unthinkable, started a thread about a thread. I've rushed over here for comfort, support and understanding.

I think I might spontaneously combust if I read any more of that thread, but I just can't stop myself.

Where is this thread? Can I slap them after you?

willitbeahappynewyear · 08/01/2009 19:22

Found it now. Didnt read it in detail but agree with everything you said, especially the bit about not choosing to have twins.

Here it is... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/679429-I-don-39-t-think-I-am-but-here-goes what do you all think?

Well I can see where the OP is coming from, but your comment about choosing to have two children and not choosing to have twins puts me firmly on your side, but possibly only because I have twins too. I can see why non-twin parents wouldn't necessarily feel that way.

The things that gets me about that post was that it should really be a non-issue. The thought about school trips and having to fork out double each time one comes up really scares me even now, and my two are only 2 (next week). I've just had to fork out for their uniform for nursery, which they start in 2 weeks, and that was painful enough. If was offered subsidy from the school like this I would be incredibly grateful and thank them from the bottom of my heart, but I would have had the sense to keep my mouth shut, for my DTs sake if nothing else (no child wants to be made to feel different or 'poor'). It should have been kept private, and then there wouldn't have been anything to post about.

Thats just what I think too.

dsrplus8 · 08/01/2009 23:19

i got twins.its different from having a single. even singles close in age cant compare.dont get the money thing though, you have kids you provide for them the best you can, regardless of how many you have. i do have major respect for higher multiple mums,...goodness knows how they cope with the pregnancy, never mind the rest of it.

I simply can't convince them that twins are more expensive than 2. Clearly, it's the sort of thing that you cant even begin to fathom unless it happens to you.

I give up.

I have given up posting on that thread, it was doing my head in. Think it is simply very dificult to understand the financial implications unless you've got twins (or more!) yourself - or have close friends with multiples.
