Hi there. I'm 41 and TTC dc2 by IVF. I had my first scan today and have 16 viable follicles. Apparently all looks good so far and physiologically I'm youger than my age. DH and I have the option of having up to 3 embryos put back on day 5 (assuming we get 3) Does anyone have any general stats re: single/twin/triplet outcomes for someone my age if we out back a)2 and b)3?

I had 3 frozen put back and had twins.

Good luck-another 2 week waiter hater here

Hey! Moptop/Triplets/OldBint.... went for my blood test today (early) as I did a positive result at home (very impatient) and I AM PREGNANT!!

Sorry only just seen your posts Milamae and Pruners - thanks for your support. As you can see I couldn't wait the 2 weeks. Scan on the 19th to see if its single or twins.....DP wants twins! Can you believe it as it took me 4 years to persuade him to have ds1. He even said if it was a single we could go for another(me thinks not!).

wow - many congratulations.

This brings back memories of last year. It never occured to me for a minute that I would have twins (even though I had two blasts put back) - so we laughed and cried at the clinic when the sonographer said it was twins.

Will follow your story closely. And congratulations on the postitive result - at our age (I am 42) its a fanastic miracle!!

OldBint · 08/09/2008 11:59

I am so very pleased for you.

I dropped out of the convo as my story was extremely similar to yours (we had 12 embryos, 8 top grade, 2 super duper ones returned as blasto's) but nothing happened unfortunately. I didn't want to "blight" your chances with my story.

In fact it was slightly stranger than that, as after my blood test, the Dr phoned to say I was "not "not pregnant"" - that there was a real try to hold on but it didn't quite work. It was quite a sad thought that there was this little flicker of life inside me just trying and trying and there was nothing I could do to help it.

Anyway, am back into the next cycle, so lets see what happens down the line. I have two very lovely children already, so this isn't the be all and end all for me and DH and I are very pragmatic/realistic about this.

Very, very many congratulations to you - I do hope everything goes well.

Mrsfudgecake · 08/09/2008 18:17

Thank you sooo much everyone - I know I am lucky at 41 but I was pretty optimistic about it working (I can say that now of course, sorry about your situation Old Bint - fingers and toes crossed for next time). Its funny how each stage of this process has its 'worries and niggles'. Now that I actually am pregnant after my initial post about putting back 2 or 3 blasts - my mind is totally pre-occupied as to whether its twins or not. THANK GOD I did not go for 3! I keep reading all the posts from other mums with twins and wondering if I'll be joining in!

Mrsfudgecake
I have been reading your thread with such interest. I am 26 wks preg with twins and have some friends who have conceived thro IVF. I am so excited fort you! I can't wait to read your post on the 19th to find out what happens at your scan.
Must have been a surreal decision to to decide how many eggs you should put back in. Quite emotional.
Good luck what a special story

Mrsfudgecake · 17/09/2008 17:13

Thanks Jennyroper...I've not added anything in the last few days because time seems like it is REALLY dragging and I've not much else to say except this wait seems the longest of all and in a way the most frustrating! Only 2 days to go though. My post on Friday will be very quick - what ever the outcome, as DP DS1 and I are off for a weekend break - much needed. All I hope at this stage is that the doc can detect a heartbeat (or two). Will let you all know friday am!

I am 6 mths preg with identical twin girls and have a 23 month old son too. What an extraordinary blessing. You are so lucky. Have a wonderful weekend away planning the new events in your life

PinkyDinkyDooToo · 21/09/2008 21:03

Congratulations MrsFudgeCake! I have been following your thread. So very pleased for you. You must be so excited.

Mrsfudgecake · 23/09/2008 18:45

Back, relaxed and happy - although still in denial!Yes jennyroper - v v v glad I did not put back 3. As it turned out it was only the 2 that looked good enough.

Thanks everyone for keeping up with this thread and for all your best wishes and positive thoughts. Its especially good to hear from mums who have a toddler and twins or are expecting them - gives me hope that I will cope!

I've still not told any family or friends in the UK about this yet, so your support has been very important. DP and I go back to the UK in 3 weeks to get married at the end of next month - hopefully I will be able to announce our news on our big day! Very glad I ordered an empire-line wedding dress!!

wow - soooo happy for you. Many many congratulations. We have been traveling in the US with the boys (for two months from 6.5 to when they are 8.5 months) so have not been on mumsnet very much. Its been very very hard work - but a wonderful holiday none the less. Everyone in the US is soo wonderful when they see the boys. We get told that we are "twice blessed" at least three times a day.

Its great being twice blessed. Very hard work - But lots of fun!

jennyroper · 24/09/2008 18:00

Sullwah that's lovely to have people say that to you in the States. I like that.

Mrsfudgecake · 27/09/2008 15:55

Sullwah - how did you manage with solids on tour?

OP posts:
Sullwah · 27/09/2008 19:39

Solids?

I had high hopes of doing BLW and mushing food up in those little hand held mushy things - but doing 4 milk feeds a day plus two solids while traveling and trying to have a fun holiday is very very arduous. I just need to get meal times over and done with with as little mess as possible

So I have become a jar mom. They get a jar each twice a day which is preceeded by some finger food - bit of cumcumber, melon, yellow baby bell, philidelphia on a biscuit / toast that sort of thing. One of the boys loves the finger food and the other loves the jars.

I bought 4 travel bibs from mothercare that scrunch up really small and are easily wipe cleanable and stick them in a washing machine whenever we can do some laundry but also using some crap disposable bibs.

Back in the UK at the end of Nov when they wil be 9.5 months old so will pay more attention to their food then.

In the meantime I try not to dwell on it!

Sullwah · 27/09/2008 23:41

oh - and we are using the Phil and Teds side by side buggy as a highchair to feed them in.

The food dries on and then can be scrapped off easily enough

It is getting a bit gross but the buggy is getting quite a battering on the road anyway ..... so good excuse to buy a new one when I get back

I think when you are a twin mum - its scummy mummy rather than scrummy

Mrsfudgecake · 01/10/2008 07:04

Oh no. not looking forward to scum
