Not waking up during the night when the twins are crying

The twins were born at 28 weeks and 4 days.
They were in the NICU for 8 weeks
id get up in the night to express and ring the hospital to check on the twins.
I’ve been used to not having a full night sleep for a long time due to anxiety mainly and now due to the twins and feeding.
sometimes I sleep through them crying! It sounds awful. My husband has done the same too.
tonight I’m first night feeding both twins on my own in the night as my husband is back to work so I want him to have a full nights sleep each night.
i didn’t hear them waking up, he came from downstairs and woke me up. He didn’t have a good sleep so heard them from downstairs.

we all sleep with a brown noise machine as it helps the twins. I’m not sure if that’s the reason sometimes I don’t hear them or if it’s down to being exhausted. I’m really scared I won’t be able to hear them and will continue to sleep through. I do have alarms set so that can walk up after 4 hours if I’ve not heard them.

(they are 15 weeks - 4 weeks corrected) they sleep in the same bedroom as me in a next to me crib

The only way to find out whether it is the brown noise machine stopping you from hearing is to turn it off. Do without it for a couple of nights and see if it makes any difference. Thats the first thing I'd do.

Thank you. We have always kept it on at night time as being NICU babies they like the noise. So I’ve never wanted to turn it off.

I’m in the middle of feeding now so i’ve turned it off and we’ll see if I hear them in the next 3 hours or so

How are you getting in now @zebraprintlov? If you’re still exhausted to the point if not waking you might need your iron levels checking Flowers

Hey, I’ve put the brown noise machine on a timer instead and it seems to have worked. I feel like I’m tired all the time just due to not having much sleep with the twins. I can’t sleep during the day when they are sleeping because they want to be held all the time 😩.
overall I do feel much better having the machine on a timer instead

Will they sleep in bed with you if you follow safe bed sharing guidelines? Flowers

The No Cry Nap Solution might help you to get them to nap independently, if that’s what you’d like to try?
