Twins weight at 32 weeks

My friend had a scan last week and her twin girls, who are fraternal, own sacks and placentas are said to be about 3.2 pounds and 3.7 pounds. Her doctor hasnt said this is a low weight but I'm sure twins are usually around 4 pounds at this gestatio. She is nearly 33 weeks. She is also quite tall so I would have thought they would be bigger. Did anyone have twins that suze at that gestation?

My twin DGS were born at 33/3 and were both just over 6lbs so those weights sound low to me. That said the hospital said that if the twins had gone to term they would have been around 7lbs each (MD twins)! Hope all turns out well 💐

I had twins and I didn’t even know they could weigh them before they were born.
Mine were
At birth ( 4 weeks early ) they were 5lb 6oz and 6lb 5oz……any way of working back ?

Oh … I found a graph
33 weeks 1908g = 4.2lbs

Twins weight at 32 weeks

a week before I gave birth my twins were estimated at 4lbs 11 and 5lbs 4
which I thought was absolutely tiny and I was worried about low birth weight
babies came at 37 weeks weighing 6lbs 2 and 5lbs 9
they couldn’t of been more wrong ..

I had my girls - own sacks and placentas - at 33 weeks

1 was 3lb 4 and other one 4lb 5

to me those weights sounds totally reasonable

also just to note my smaller daughter was measuring 2lb 6 on the scan but did come out heavier. It’s not 100% accurate

I went into spontaneous labour and gave birth to my DCDA (although later confirmed they’re identical) at 31+3 weeks and they were both just over 3lb. Scans are an estimate and it’s harder for them to get it right when there is two in there! I was pleased with their weights as was told that was good for their gestation and they’re now nearly 7 years old. I think her scan is okay, as long as babies plotting along their own growth lines nicely.

It’s more about following an upward curve. I had a mcda twins and they were born at 36 weeks weighing 5lb 10 and 6lb. It was a bit of a relief as they’d estimated them at more than a lb apart so were concerned about smaller twin. It’s very much not an exact science and life is stressful at that stage so I wouldn’t try and introduce worries.

Mine were born at 36+5 weighing 4lb 4 and 5lb 5. They both had a few days in scbu to help get feeding sorted - ng tubes in big for a few days until he kept pulling it out. Small for a little longer as she struggled with maintaining body temp and feeding (also ng tube). She also had a little bit of jaundice but nothing sitting in front of the sunny ward window didn't fix.

They were otherwise fit and healthy. No breathing issues. While those weights might sound low, there are lots of other things which factor in to whether it's a concern. Weight alone isn't an indicator and you've not said whether your friend is concerned so I would take lead from her.

Mine would be considered small, but their older siblings were both 6lb babies so in terms of my pregnancy, the twins weights were not a huge worry by the time I gave birth.

Thank you everyone. I think she is just hoping that the estimates are wrong and they are a bit bigger.
