DSD is going in on Thursday. She is 37 weeks with twin boys.

All has gone well so far.. am I right in thinking she's done well to get to 37 weeks with twins?

DSD is 22 and this is her first pregnancy. DH is really excited. As soon as we know she's in actual labour he's going to jump in the car (she lives up north, we're down south) to be with her for a few days; have some quality time with her and his grandsons We're all going up in a few weeks for half term.

They are both head down and the plan is for her to have them naturally.

Think DH is quite nervous for his DD; am trying to reassure him and have also told him to bear in mind that one or both may need to spend at least a little time in special care. We have bad experiences/memories of SCBU as our DS2 (now 7) spent 9 weeks in one; was a very scary time. So obviously it might be traumatic for DH for that reason.

Can people reassure me at how things are likely to go? Not been a problem pregnancy.. scan last week revealed they are "still a little small" which is why I think the plan is to induce her on Thursday.. but twins are always "a little small" aren't they?

Oh I have tears in my eyes - am so so pleased everything went ok and a natural birth as well - told you she could do it.

Bet you can't wait to give them a hug.

Sorry to hear about ds2 - what an awful time for him (and you). [hugs and kisses]

Congratulations to the CRH household on the new additions to the family.

Thanks MrsR. Am very very proud of DSD and wish I was up there too.

Have just increased the overdraft so I could order a "bouquet of balloons" LOL! They will arrive tomorrow with free jelly beans (??!) I am going stir crazy (and bankrupt!) stuck here! Can't even get out as DS obviously recovering from this morning.

DH will be visiting his new grandsons now..

We're all going up on the 27th and staying at a Travel Lodge for two nights. (Actually, DS2 isn't... he's going to respite but it would have been a nightmare taking him..) May is going to go sooo slowly..

They feel like my actual grandkids (even though I'm far too young obviously! ) because I have been watching DSD grow up since she was 8. I just want to give her a massive hug and tell her how proud I am of her.

what a brilliant idea CRH - no messing about with putting flowers in water - she'll have her hands full enough.

You are their Nanny now - my LOs have a Step Grandad who they know as Grandad (and love to bits).

You could always spend your time up until 27th entering glamouras Granny competitions - you'd win and boost your finances

congratulations to your dsd - I'm sure your dh is being the doting grandad

Fabulous news. Great birth! I was at a twin birth with gas 'n' air only. Wonderful. The hospital staff were amazed!

PazzaPlusTwo · 05/05/2008 17:02

Yay, more twins!

Congrats CRH and CRH's DSD!!!

Our girls are one week old today, BF-ing fine and being unbearably cute - it was soooo nice to have all the grandparents fussing and cooing over them the first few days - bet you are so proud

ChocolateRockingHorse · 07/05/2008 21:14

Ooh thanks for the responses.. only just seen them, not been around for a few days.

DSD and the babies came home on Sunday - they are all doing great and even though the twins are "prem sized" they are actually mature (as their almost full term gestation would suggest) and are fine.

DH is totally in love with his grandsons. He came home to us on Sun night once his DD and the twins were home with loads of gorgeous pics. Wish I could link to them but probably not the done thing as they're not mine to link to

The second one (Keenan) was born with help of venthouse and then forceps as he was face up so his head is a little bruised. Kaiden is greedier than his brother but both are feeding beautifully. The half long legs, big feet and won't keep their scratch mits on! DSD has just asked us to look for some premature baby cotton hats as this is the only thing she needs so off to do that now.

I get to meet them in 3 weeks (half term) YAY!!
