Hi ladies
these twins will be my first babies!
im 25 weeks getting bits ready and purchased
im really open to combi feeding
read loads online that some women struggle with breast feeding and getting enough milk etc

do I go ahead and buy an electrical breast pump now or wait until babies have arrived and see my situation! I’m looking at momcozy or elvive so they are a bit costly but have some Black Friday deals going on
have no idea!
please advise ❤️

I don't like telling people what to do so I won't advise either way but from my experience I didn't need a pump.

I expressed for my first so thought I'd do the same for the twins but there was no time to express. I picked a side for each baby and stuck with it so they took what they wanted, when they needed.

Breastfeeding twins is pretty full on so adding in expressing was never going to happen for me.

If you find that you do need one after the babies are here then the hospital can lend you one while you're there and most places have super fast delivery.

I had a Medela pump and I really liked it. A hakka is great as well

The comment above sounds sensible.
I don't have twins, so I cannot comment on that; I'm currently breastfeeding my third baby and expressing seems like so much work 🙈I tried with my first at bit and didn't like it.
So... I wouldn't buy a pump in advance . I'd wait and see how things go.
Congrats

I did express with my twins as well as breastfeed. I did it by expressing at the same time every day between feeds, because I needed to go out with my eldest and so found discretely feeding two was impossible. So I'd breastfed twin1 who was a bottle refuser, and bottlefed twin2 breastmik. I did this till they were 12 months (from about 8 weeks) it worked for us as a family. I think with twins, even more than a singleton you need to find what works for you not what everyone tells you to do. I already had a breast pump from my first dc but in your situation I'd research them, pop one in the basket and wait till you decide you need one, you can get next day delivery.

Shops selling pumps are now open almost all hours of the day and Amazon can deliver in hours.

A decent pump will set you back £200.

That's £200 that might be a waste of money.

Wait and see if you need it. You can get hold of one pretty damn quickly if you really need one.

It depends how likely you think a NICU stay could be. Sorry it’s not a very happy thought but if you are separated from one or both babies for a time having a powerful pump ready to use could really help. Especially as you aren’t then relying on the hospital to sort something out or trying to choose and order one last minute.

How much you breastfeed or pump in the early days can make a big difference to supply overall.

I found that expressing just messed with my supply. I mostly just breastfed and then gave the odd formula bottle if needed....

I really needed my pump, my twins were prem and I used the hospital grade pump when I was in NICU but needed my own one when I was at home and then took the milk into hospital everyday. I continued pumping and feeding when home as I had to mix medications into the milk and also meant my husband could help with night feeds which sped things up a little. However I agree with what a lot of other posters say, you don’t really know if you need one until you need one! If you do end up needing one then you can get one quickly via Prime. I used the Medela Freestyle Flex Double.
