Hi, I'm 18 weeks pg with identicals and haven't had a scan since I was 14 weeks and not due for one until next week which is my anomoly scan. (I'll be 19+ weeks then) The consultant said I would have fortnightly scans afer that, but it seems from what I have read, that TTTS is quite common around this time?? Part of me thinks that I should not worry as I only have a week to wait but does anyone else think this is normal?

Thanks

I wasn't scanned between 12 weeks (when I found out I was expecting id twins) and the 20 week anomaly scan. I didn't even see a midwife during that time either! After that I was scanned every three weeks, but I think frequency of scans varies depending on your hospital policy.

I'll point some of the others in this direction to give you a better idea of what should be happening.

same as tkb. After the anomaly scan, I seemed to have LOADS of scans but nothing between 12 and 20 weeks.

I had a scan at 13 weeks and 20 weeks then 24, 28, 32 i was told at 13 weeks i would be done every 4 weeks and i was. what i would advise is don't just have your hospital appointments with the consultant cause it's twins have a community midwife appt just like other mums aswell. when i came home with mine my allocated midwife in the community couldn't believe that she hadn't seen me. It's one of them things that if no one tells you you don't know but i now know if she had have been keeping an eye on me between my hospital appointments i would have felt better and the risks of high blood pressure etc with twins would have been looked for more frequently.

thanks everyone. I went for my 20 week scan on Friday and was diagnosed with severe TTTS. I think I knew in my heart of hearts that something was wrong. I was sent to ST Georges London on Fri and am going back on Tues for Fetoscopic laser surgery on the placenta. Odds of saving both twins is only about 1/3 and I am heartbroken. Has anyone else been through this?

I am so sorry to hear that. I don't have any experience of this but bumping so that this remains near the top of active convos and hopefully someone who knows more will be along shortly.

You must be in shock. I hope you get some more information soon. My best wishes to you and your DP.
