Hi mummies..

Hope all is well with mummies, babies and twinnies!!

Im just interested as i have twins on boths mine and Husbands side there is a chance of twins.

Those who have had single and double preg's apart from the obvious how did they differ?

From early on (1st few wk) were things different-ie symptons?

Ive prob made no sense but im just interested as ttc at mo.

hello there,

I had single first and twins exactley 2 years later. At first with the twins, i was more tired. the first inkling I had that there was more than 1 was when they started moving (much earlier than first time) I thought that the baby was incredibly tall as i could feel it on both sides of my tummy. The midwife did not hear 2 heartbeats at my 16 wk check but I was convinced. didnt find out until 24 weeks which in a way was because i would of had far too much time to worry. All went well after that, the fun starts when they are born!! I hope that answers your question.
good luck! hope to hear some news soon,

p.s we have twins on both sides too !

Hi

I was horribly sick early on when pg with my DD1...... I was hideously sick early on when pg with my DTs!!

At 3 months with DTs I already had a little bump whereas with my DD1 I had nothing for sometime.

In terms of twins travelling down family lines, you might already know about some of the differences in identicals/non identicals. And please someone correct me if I've arsed it up!!!.........

Non identicals would occur when two eggs are produced and both are fertilised. So I guess the 'responsibility' of producing those twins would be yours! Releasing one/two/three/four eggs per cycle may be something you inherited from your mum or it could just be your body. Identical twins happen when one egg is fertilised and it splits into two. This is a random happening. With Non-IDs you could conceivably have multiple sets of twins. With IDs there is no saying you would have another set.

I think I have it

I'll put a shout in our regular thread for others......

Good luck!! Its hard work and very special.

I felt nauseous with my singleton (girl) pg from about 6-14 weeks.

I puked numerous times daily from 5-14 weeks with this twin pg (sexes unknown)I lost 8lbs in 1st trimester and didn't start to show until about 17 weeks - but 3 weeks later (now) I definatley look pg!

I knew I must be having twins before my scan(runs in my family, too)

throckenholt · 15/05/2008 11:13

I was a sick as a dog with my twins.

Oddly I was more exhausted in the first months with my singleton.

throckenholt · 15/05/2008 11:16

just read the other posts - there seems to be a theme here !

Hopefully you are one of those lucky ones who doesn't do sickeness much.

ChopsTheDuck · 15/05/2008 19:20

sicker and tireder, and needing to urinate even more frequently. But thankfully it did all pass very quickly. Also felt movements lot earlier than singles.

mummyofbeautifultwingirls · 16/06/2008 21:09

I was absolutely exhausted when carrying my girls; I would wake up after a nights sleep and still fall asleep on my way to work as if I had been awake for 3 days.

I wasn't sick at all though (sorry!!!) but felt quite nauseous for the first 8 or so weeks but then woke up one morning and felt fine (and promptly ran to the bathroom to pee on a stick - just to be sure!!!)

I was also very big very quickly; in maternity clothes by 8/9 weeks..... I went on holiday at 12 weeks and had to see the doctor whilst out there and he thought I was 7 months!!!!!

mummyofbeautifultwingirls · 16/06/2008 21:11

Oh, and right from day dot my boobs were KILLING me!!! ( I knew I was pregnant before I knew if you know what I mean cos they hurt so much and I was soooooooooo tired; never dreamed it was twinnies though...)

Neeerly3 · 16/06/2008 21:16

you scaring me now girlies! I have had the twinnies - not sick at all, felt sick though from 8 - 12 weeks....I had nothing to compare it to though. I am now 6 wks preg with unknown quantity, but I am shattered and feel quite dizzy. Gonna see the doc next week and try and blag an early scan so I can put my mind at rest!

mummyofbeautifultwingirls · 16/06/2008 23:25

ooooh I would too!!!

MarsLady · 17/06/2008 00:38

No real difference at all. I was sick! Bleurggggggghhhhhhhhhh.... however I have clients expecting twins that haven't been sick at all.

Tortington · 17/06/2008 00:41

awwww do i detect that you would love to have twins?

sweet

accordiongirl · 18/06/2008 20:48

I didn't vom once (sorry!) - but tired? OMG yes! And had a little bump even ten days gone! Did lots of swelling too, couldn't bend legs by the end. And sweating, yuk.

MERLYPUSS · 18/06/2008 21:40

Only ever had twins. Never sick once. Only (!) gained 2 stone. Was a right lazy cow before pg so can't really say more tired. Ballooned at 6 mths.
