@rickandmorts 12 minutes between my identical twins. Second twin was breech so we had about six people walk in with an ultrasound machine and attempt to turn the baby. I’d already had an epidural so was ready for a c section if needs be.

Apparently 5% of twin births proceed to emergency c section after first twin born vaginally.

chutneypig · 24/01/2024 06:05

37w6 - b/g twins. I had a scheduled section as they predicted both to be 8lb. With no signs on DS engaging they were concerned for my health.

MuchTooTired · 24/01/2024 06:08

36+5, surprise elcs due to severe pe with my b/g twins. They showed zero signs of wanting out by themselves!

mamatoTails · 24/01/2024 06:17

37+4
DCDA girls, (Identical)
Both breech. Planned on a vaginal birth but also booked a section for 37+4 as I refused to go over 38 weeks, and as it was twins 2 growth started to tail off so we went for the section.
All my previous pregnancies have gone to term + so I knew they'd be too comfortable to come on their own accord!

Morrisseyswife · 24/01/2024 06:27

39 weeks.
B/G twins.
6lb 3oz and 7lb 11oz.
They were both breach, so C Section the only option.
My waters broke with my daughter, but they wanted me to go home and wait until after the weekend (early sat morning) as they would have to get a team in specially to deliver twins.
When I said I wasn't going anywhere, the team were called in and delivered my two at 9 am.

For those that had twins vaginally, how long was there between each twin? What do you do with twin 1 whilst you're giving birth to twin 2? Does the dad or birth partner hold them and do skin to skin? Sorry being nosy as I just always presumed they were born via c-section!

11 minutes (I don't remember anything about twin 2 being born). It was all very fast.

There were a lot of staff in the room. Someone had twin 1 (they didn't let me hold either of them for hours 😔).

Lillygolightly · 26/01/2024 12:31

37+1 planned C Section with DCDA boy girl twins.

Both had been head down at every scan and at my final scan 3/4 days before the section, but somehow twin 1 managed to find the space to flip herself breach in those last few days. God knows how she had the room as I’m small and short and they were both born weighing 6lbs 14oz! They must have been so squashed in there 🙈

I got to hold them each while still in theatre, held boy twin first even though he was born second. Girl twin I had to wait a little longer and she was a bit shocked to be born and needed a couple of extra checks, not more than a few minutes and she was then in my arms too.

I’d had 3 singleton births and my second born was a water birth which I absolutely loved, but I have to say the planned c section was just as lovely…it was so calm and so nice to be mentally present when the babies arrived instead of huffing and puffing on the gas and air and being a bit away with the fairies.

Crooklodge · 26/01/2024 13:24

30 weeks, boy/girl. Was taken into theatre for emergency section (placental abruption) but decided I needed to push as they put the mask on me, so good old forceps.

@rickandmorts I literally got to hold her for 2 seconds before they had to whisk her off me for resuscitation, longest 4 minutes of my life waiting to see if ds was ok.

Donimo · 26/01/2024 14:32

Identical twins. Born emergency c section at 33 weeks following a rupture and going into labour. Was planned for c section at 36 weeks as I had a c section with my eldest.

TeenLifeMum · 26/01/2024 14:35

Identical girls, 35+5 weeks emergency C-section.

csection was planned for 37 weeks due to traumatic birth with dd1.

Crazycatlady79 · 30/01/2024 06:19

DCDA non-id girls.
Induced at 38 weeks.
Had hoped to pop them out through my vagina, but Twin 1 had other ideas and was breech, which they only realised once they had broken my waters.
Emergency C-section.
Hellish experience, but awesome twins!

doubleshotcappuccino · 30/01/2024 06:26

28 weeks..
Fraternal boys
Now 16 and 6 foot 5 ! Nobody would believe they were preemies who spent 3 months in hospital x

doubleshotcappuccino · 30/01/2024 06:27

Oops forgot to say .. vaginal birth ..

gettingolderbutcooler · 27/02/2024 20:47

37 weeks. Vaginal birth 😩

emmaw1405 · 13/03/2024 11:30

Set 1
Non-id girls, 32 weeks emergency C-section with pre-eclampsia. First was transverse, second breech.

Set 2
ID girls, 37 weeks, planned C-section, was originally 38 weeks but it was bought forward a week. Both breech. My legs had started to swell the day I went in so looked like I was getting pre-eclampsia again so good job it was bought forward

GlintingFuriously · 13/03/2024 11:45

32 + 1, identical girls, emergency C-section (HELLP syndrome)

Alainlechat · 13/03/2024 19:22

35+1 c section as planned for identical twins. Good job as twin to twin transfusion had started and the placenta was deteriorating.

ThatWhiteElephant · 13/03/2024 20:02

34 weeks
MCDA
Planned c-section due to TTTS

cargoship · 13/03/2024 20:43

38 weeks
Elcs.
Around 7lbs each
Bg twins

SleepingStandingUp · 13/03/2024 20:44

36, planned c sec. Reckon they'd have stayed in there longer but my BP had started to rise anyway so they'd have been evicted fairly soon anyway

MCDA boys

cargoship · 14/03/2024 09:56

I think mine would've stayed in there longer too but they don't like you going over 37 weeks.

I was induced but nothing happened. Opted for a c section the next day.

Was fine.
