another pram question

although i'm a bit of a fraud coming here for advise (my DS will be 10.5months old when my second baby is born) i will need a pram suitable for twins due to the small age gap.

initially i liked the powertwin but my big concern is the size of the seats and the legroom for the back seat. DS is very tall already so if we have another long baby, will he/she outgrow the rear seat?

I hate the phil&teds doubles kit as the baby underneath looks so low to the ground and the graco double is just too bulky. Dont like the Icandy pear as the younger baby has to go at the bottom so you cant see it.

have seem mamas and papas have got the Duette and was wondering if it is worth the £500 price tag. wont really need the car seat as my graco one will be under a year old with no accidents and DS will be in the next stage one by then.

has anyone any suggestions/recommendations for a double that fits through doors, is manouvourable, fits in a renault megane boot & doesnt cost the earth?

Thanks

There is always a downside to every twin buggy - I have been through 6!

I would really recommend the Powertwin. The legroom in the back has been fine for my girls, now aged 2. There is plenty of room left for them to grow, I can see the buggy easily accommodating them until they can walk everywhere.

The cozytoes sleeping-bag is very bulky does reduce the legroom in winter. I would avoid the Jane brand bags and get something softer which would solve the problem.

If you get stuck TAMBA (the twins assoc) does a double buggy guide you can buy here.

kaa
I picked up a friend today and thought I had a big boot
jane powertwin would not fit ! It needs a hatchback so if you have the right car I would go for it
if you want narrow and lightweight combi we 2 is nice
saw an i candy pear today looked nice

cheers galaxy. i have looked at the pear but the second seat isnt a full size and i'm not sure how much use i will be able to get out of it. the powertwin folds to the same size as my graco travel system which fits in the boot of my megane at the moment so i'm sort of working on the theory that when i compare folded sizes, if it is roughly the same size as the graco then it will fit iyswim! the icandy pear looks really smart but the younger baby has to go at the bottom so i wont be able to see them with DS in the way

Could you look at the nipper? Not sure how big a megane boot is, but it will fulfil everything else.

I ahve sen a lot of people use janes later on, but for us it didn't work once the twins got bigger. They hated it tbh.

ChopsTheDuck · 11/03/2008 16:36

also, thinking about it, the front seat on a jane won't really recline far enough for a 10.5 month old sleeping. And the baby will have to be in the back since it's the only one that fully reclines.

thanks chops - am off to look at the nipper today. didnt realise it was different from the mothercare one but it is about 10cm narrower.

have done it. got the baby jogger double. went to look at the nipper but it doesnt have any padding as standard so they showed us the baby jogger double which is the same size but with a bigger hood and more padding. it has the raincover and basket as standard and the wheels are alloy.

Hi,

Glamourbadger is right each pram seems to have a downside. I went thru 7 i think. I ended up with mothercare tandem for the shopping malls and mothercare urban detour for walks round home (too big for car/lifting). I think its good to think about what you'll really need it for ie lots of walking outdoors (3 wheels best for kerbs) or shopping trips (tandem goes thru smaller doors). Maybe the Jane is the best compromise but I found it bit cramped, slightly prone to tipping over and small shopping basket.

I'm selling this absolutely gorgeous oldy worldy twin pram on ebay:

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140230350181&ssPageName=STRK:MESE :IT&ih=004

Love it and only selling due to lack of space...
