I looked at loads of twin buggies when expecting my twins which are now 14 months old. All of the ones that have posted replies and to be honest thought all of them weren't that good. I got the urban terrain double buggy by Mountain Buggy. I bought this from twoleftfeet.co.uk along with newborn head supports. This buggy is perfect and I recommend it to anyone. It goes up to the age of 4 and lies flat for newborns. It also fits through a standard door - v important. I went to a shop that did lots of twin buggies so I could test them out. Good luck

I am in love with my phil and ted. My age gap is 18 months and i could not have managed without it. I bought mine on ebay from the states (it was half the price because of the exchange rate). I think it is still cheaper than UK even with the shipping. I borrowed a maclaren twin from a friend when my second was newborn but i found it difficult and bulky but then I am in London and it wasn't v practical for public transport.

duowalker

have just bought this as it has a lie flat and can take a car seat too for baby and the seat is big enough for my 2yr old dd - the phil & teds wasn't tall enough for her sitting above lie flat baby so was no use

dizzydixies · 30/06/2008 12:24

if your dc is tall be careful of the P&T as they sit up the top first and mine had her head poking through to observation flap at the top of the hood

looked at the mountain buggy but it didn't have a car seat option - the duowalker does and is essentially the same in all other ways

I ordered it and it was delivered within 3 days - is still sitting boxed up in shed waiting on baby now!

babyjungle got it from this site as even with postage was still cheaper than buying from the 3 UK stockists AND it has all the colours to choose from too

good luck with your choice, I know its not easy

have a phil and teds. DD - 2 years and DS 4 months.

I know what you mean - it's a bit scary to have your newborn underneath your toddler, but it seems to work. It's quite sturdy and I like that it's narrow like a normal pram.

sweetkitty · 30/06/2008 12:28

I had 18 months between first two I have had

a M&P Twin Aria - horrendous parcel tray broke after a week, seats seem really cramped even for tiny DD1, hard to get up kerbs, cosy toes were for single Aria and didn't fit properly plus you couldn't fold it with them on, just felt really plasticky.

Graco tandem - better then the Twin Aria but not much, felt like you were pushing a train
Better at kerbs and had more space.

I will have 2 1/2 years between next two and have just bought a P&T, it's not like baby lies in parcel shelf, baby lies in reclined single pram IYSWIM, it is the toddler who sits on the top. I like that it can go from single to double and holds it's resale value well.

sweetkitty makes a good point re: position of phil and teds....

sweetkitty · 30/06/2008 12:40

My DD2 can just about fit under the hood but we reckoned that it will be fine for a few months as the baby will only be in the lie flat position for about 4-6 months by that time DD2 will be nearly 3 she already walks well I just need her contained sometimes. I also liked that I can put the baby in the front after a bit and have a Spare seat in the back for tired toddler (or fed up Mummy).

For us and our family situation it was the best fit solution but I think you have to think about your age gaps/whether you walk or drive a lot etc

dizzydixies · 30/06/2008 12:42

over your dd being able to fit Kitty - suppose its my own fault for breeding monsters

sweetkitty · 30/06/2008 12:45

yes must the air up there, down here we breed shorties, DP and I were never going to have giants.

the set of twins i worked with most recently had a mountain buggy and the icandy

Both were lovely to use but the icandy was easier to get about with and was easier to get and out of the car with
