Holiday with 2.5 yo twins?

Looking for some holiday advice

I have twin boys who will be 2.5 years in May. We had a holiday booked that the company cancelled, and now prices have gone up over £1k for the same dates! So I am looking for any experiences/ advice about holidays with kids that age. Specific places/ hotels/ activities would be great.

We had originally booked an all inclusive in Croatia but I think we are now priced out. Annoyingly we could only afford it as our honeymoon got cancelled (covid) and we kept the refund in the hope of having our first family holiday!

We were looking at Centre Parcs in France/Belgium but I’m a bit put off by the idea of having to cook and clean every day, doesn’t feel like much of a break!

Has anyone gone anywhere that’s easy with kids that age to eat out, to to a beach/ pool and get some level of break? I just want nice food and to keep them occupied really.

I feel like Disneyland would just be wasted on that age?

I know quite a few people who have been here - very geared up for children, catering for parents too. I think whilst you have the priceless bonus of not having to holiday in school holidays, its not exactly cheap but its not extortionate.

We have just booked here umbriawithkids.net/ for June with our 3 girls who will be 4 and almost 1 year old twins when we go. Seems really set up for young families. Not been yet so can't actually review but all the online reviews seem great and the communication we have had so far is excellent

We just drove to France when Dts we're small, so much easier than flying, could load up all their shit necessary stuff, had the car and seats when we were there and could get around easily.

I wouldn't rule out Disney. I took my almost 3yo and 14mo to Disneyland and they adored it. Kids under 3 go free. They loved the characters, parades and shows.we did some rides and they enjoyed those too but we chose carefully so we didn't have to entertain them for ages in queues. It was a really easy family holiday because I didn't need to take any toys or think about how we were going to entertain them every day. However, we booked almost a year in advance for an off peak period so I have no idea what the cost might be for summer and sort of last minute.

I have twins a similar age. Whilst self catering doesn't feel like a holiday it depends on what your twins are like to eat out - for every meal - don't know about you but I barely get to sit down if we eat out and if they aren't in the mood it's a constant stress trying to keep them sat still and/or entertained not to mention wasted money on food not eaten? At least with self catered you can eat in a more relaxed way and just save anything for another meal if they don't want it and then you can always have a couple of meals out to give yourself a day off the cooking?

Centre parcs in Belgium has a big food court bit so you don't have to cook at all if you don't want too. It was relatively good prices when I went but that was about ten years ago.

Where did you decide on in the end @Moo2019?

Moo2019 · 21/05/2023 14:53

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto we ended up going to Zafiro Palmanova in Majorca and really rate it actually! There now!

Oh that's great! Hope you're all having a lovely time! Wink

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto yeah it’s perfect. All inclusive with plenty of food for the little ones, lots of space and beds by the pool etc. and around 22/23 degrees at the mo, so nice but not too hot for the kids!

Wow, sounds lovely! I haven't been added to take any of our children abroad yet, flights sound like a massive faff! We are experts at the staycation :-) before i saw youd already gone i was going to recommend it - the money you save on travelling means you can just eat out every meal, my kids love a cafe lunch :-) can't go wrong with a nice bit of seaside for a week.

Moo2019 · 10/06/2023 21:08

@TinyTeacher any good staycation recs??
