Hi Mums,

Just wondering if anyone else had c section and there uterus wouldn't contract after baby was out? I had to have 2 lots of meds to help get it to contract and lost 1.5L of blood.

Anyone else had something similar or if it's just common ? I would like more kids but worried this will happen again or be worse?

I can only have c section so please don't say go natural.

Thank you

Have you read my whole post just to comment my own words back to me?

Yes and I couldn't offer any advice. So didn't.

Was hoping that by commenting it would bump the list for you so that others would see it and you'd maybe get some replies.

If you're going to be that staggeringly rude though, that might not happen.

I think this was meant kindly just so you knew that you won’t be judged on here for your birth choice x

@mumandons clearly was being very kind and trying to help you.

You were very very rude, OP.

keepaweatheredeye · 04/02/2023 09:23

Sorry @PritiPatelsMaker was being kind.

saltofcelery · 04/02/2023 09:48

@mumandons I have never had that happen so can't help. One birth is never the same as the last.

@PritiPatelsMaker was being very kind to you and you responded rudely so you should apologise.

I have had two natural births and my uterus failed to contract both times with significant blood loss. So I don’t think it’s a c section vs natural birth thing (though one may make it more or less likely, I don’t know)

With the second birth, because they knew I was prone to the problem, I got extra appointments through pregnancy with a consultant and they monitored my iron levels to make sure I was in the best position if it did happen again. During the birth they made sure they had a cannula in to get drugs and a transfusion into me quickly and had all the equipment for a haemorrhage ready to go. They also recommended an active third stage to get the placenta out quickly so I had some of the drugs to get the uterus to contract even before they knew there was a problem. I assume most of that would be in place already with a c section.

So, from my experience I’d say there’s nothing they can do to stop it happening but they can be ready for it - my blood loss the second time was much less than the first as a result.

If it’s worrying you then talk to a doctor and they’ll be able to give you much better info specific to a c section.

I had this happen with dc1 (unplanned c section)

I had dc2 2 years later by planned c section and it was fine. They had the drug that actually finally worked on me on standby and it went smoothly.
