Hi all! I've got 4 months old twin boys and was interested what other twin mums' routines are like. How old your twins are , at what time you start the day, how many naps, awake windows, bedtime etc

Sorry that you haven't had many responses.

Hopefully someone will be along soon who can share their routines Flowers

Hi
Not sure if you've found your answers by now.

For me I followed a basic waking window method which I started at around 4-5 months.

You can Google image search "Waking windows for X month olds" to see where you are.

Roughly speaking at 4 months old you're looking at setting them down for a nap every 1.5 hours or so. When they're having such frequent naps you might find that the naps are only 10 mins or so which can be really difficult because you can't get anything done in 10 mins! But keep at it because it'll slowly start to stick and the naps will become longer as will the waking windows.

Mine have always been early risers (6am) and early nighters (6pm) and still are at 14 months old. I'd say one of them could sleep longer but the other one wakes them up! It's so tough with twins but I do ensure that if one wakes up earlier than usual from a nap, I do wake the other to keep them both on the same routine.

By all means not flawless, and there's lots of days it all goes up the wall! But works for us x

I’ve got 19 week old B/G twins and I’d be interested to know what works for other parents too.

I was following the 3 hour EASY (Baby Whisperer) and my two were constantly waking from their naps and were fighting sleep at bedtime. I think they were having too much day sleep because I was so scared of them being overtired and thinking every yawn meant that I should put them down. I really recommend pushing through the slump in the middle of the wake windows if anyone is having similar issues. I also tried Gina Ford but the feeding times were no good for my two so I couldn’t make it work

I’ve since started using the Little Ones app and the way it is structured is much better for us - particularly for my girl. The trouble shooting pages have been great for when things go wrong (which they often do). However, I’m a FTM so a lot of the information might be pretty simple and obvious if you’re more experienced.

I will say my boy is not the greatest sleeper and still wakes 1-2 times per night for a feed, but he settles brilliantly at bedtime, naps and straight after feeding at night now. They are FF now and are snack feeders who never take more than a 5oz bottle, so bear that in mind too.

Anyway, a typical day (second baby follows each step about 15 mins after the times stated below):

7am - wake and feed then play/get ready
9.10am - Nap in pram or in cot
10am - wake up, feed and play
12pm ish - feed and put to sleep in their cots
2.10-2.30pm - wake up and feed, play
4.30pm - nap in pram or in their cots
5pm - wake and feed then play time
6.20pm/6.40pm - we put them in the bath every other night so start that earlier than if they’re just having a top and tail.
7pm - feed and in their cots by this time
10pm - dream feed

Then my girl sleeps through until 6/7am. My boy is now 17lbs and wakes when he’s hungry and has never slept through, despite my best efforts!

I have 14 week old twins.

The morning starts at around 5/5:30am when they have their first bottle.

Nursery run around 8:30am and theywill nap in pram.

Feed - 9:30am Once that feed is done they usually play on their playmat or we get the babies toys out.

11:30/12pm a little nap.

I try to keep the feeds every 4 hours in the day.

Around 2pm they play again.

They start to get a bit sleepy at this point.

Oops pressed send to early my twins bedtime is around 8/9 and then they let us know they're hungry in the morning 😅.

I have 9 month old twins (7 months corrected)

Wake up approx 6am with a bottle
8am breakfast
9.30 breast feed and nap till 11 ish
12 lunch
2pm nap till 3.30/4 ish
4pm breast feed
5pm Dinner
7pm Bottle and bed (asleep by 7.30)

When 5 months they would have 3 naps a day. 9am, 12pm and 3pm.

Our afternoon naps have always been harder to get them to have and generally out and about in car or pushchair.
