Buggy for twins (newborn onwards)

Hello 😊

I've been looking for a side by side twin pram but have only really come across the bugaboo donkey 5 so far as an option.

Just wondered if anyone had any other recommendations? I've decided I want a side by side option but it seems to limit how many there are to choose from.

Mountain buggy duet or the out and about nipper were the top picks at our twins group!
I had a MB and we bought the cocoons for the first few months for it but actually could have just laid them flat in it from birth

We have a mountain buggy duet and I love it so much that I still use the double for just baby when toddler is in nursery! It's so lovely to push and narrow enough to fit through doorways. We bought a sheepskin liner for baby and just lay him flat when he was a newborn, but you can get bassinet or parent facing seats.

Oh downside is doesn't fold small at all - so you need a big boot!

I have the mountain buggy and the donkey. Started with the donkey when they were small, still using a little but increasingly moving towards the mountain now they’re a bit older. It depends what I’m doing though, weirdly the donkey takes up less space in the boot and the mountain takes up less space in a coffee shop.

I have the out n about nipper. It's lovely to push, and great for my walking, but honestly I secretly don't like it at all. I bought it with the intention of selling my son's old iCandy peach (which I can only use with their car seats now they've outgrown the carrycots and I can't find a second seat to buy!) but I can't make the switch.

The Out N About is huge. It takes up my entire boot and I have to take the wheels off to get it in (I have a Focus so not a tiny boot!) So I've been keeping it in the house to just use when we walk from home but it's constantly in the way regardless of whether it's folded up or not.

Pros, it fits through doorways, my 7 mo twins love to have their daytime naps in it (well, it is a fixture in my hallway so why not...) But for things like school runs, quick stops at the shops it takes so bloody long to get the twins buckled into, hence keeping my iCandy peach and car seats. Hopefully in time I'll get used to it's size and time it takes to get up/put down

I only got it recently when they were 6 months but they sleep well in it and the seats go flat so I'm sure newborns would be fine in it too.

Wonder if I can hijack here with a related question - I was/am planning to get the mountain buggy but now kind of thinking I'd also like a narrower tandem. Does anyone have any experience of Phil and Ted verso? Looks as though you could lie 2 newborns flat and is really narrow.

knittedwithme · 18/05/2022 19:26

@applecrumbler sorry I can't help as I haven't tried the verso but the duet is very narrow and you can fit through a single door.

We went against a tandem pram as a twin mum friend told me her twins would argue over who got the top seat. But obviously everyone will have different experiences.

Phil and Teds actually own Mountain Buggy... (irrelevant piece of info!!)

@knittedwithme thank you. We have a very narrow bit of path to get to the door in question, so I don't think MB will quite fit. Need something 60cm or less but not sure possible for a double, verso is that size tho. Good to know they own MB!

I bought a Mountain Buggy Duet second hand and am excited to try it out once my twins arrive! My husband drives but I don't, so I wanted the most convenient for getting out and about on my own, around shops and on public transport. My husband can deal with the boot side of things 😂
