Hello,

I’m 13 weeks pregnant and I’ve just found out I’m having twins. My head is a bit all over the place at the moment so I’m trying to focus on the practicalities to make me feel like I’m doing something.

Approximately 3 weeks after my twins are born my DS will turn 2, so I really need a pram/buggy that will seat all 3. Please tell me there is something out there? My internet searches have not been successful.

Also what did mums of twins do about sleeping? I was going to have a next to me, by the bed, do I just have two? I think the twins will be more comforted being together, but a single next to me wouldn’t be big enough?

Need a new house. Husband is sorting the car.

Feeding twins Confused I breastfed my eldest and would like to breastfeed my twins, but this seems like a mammoth task.

Any advice, suggestions, and humorous survival tips would be much appreciated!!

Thanks! Smile

Hospital haven't spoken to me about it yet but I'll be having a c section, planned this time. I don't expect any resistance from them though as had a difficult induction last time ending in c section anyway. Are you tempted to go under the knife or not? I just know that I won't be a good candidate for induction as needed the drip last time and apparently that's not really an option quite soon after a section.

Congratulations!

In terms of how you want to give birth depends on a few factors - I had DCDA but because I had a previous c section hospital strongly recommended another c section and i was more than happy at that.

Not many twins are born naturally - not both anyway and with having MCDA it might limit your options further

Recovery from c section was fine - I was home after 48 hours (twins stayed in NICU) and I was driving within 2 weeks

In terms of nursery fees we have gone with a childminder which is half the cost of nursery. The twins are also on term time only contracts as we have a reception age child who would be off all school holidays anyway. It does mean splitting all holidays with DH but it's worth it on what we save on the childcare fees

We also took a 10 year bank loan out of £25k to cover childcare until 30 hours kicks in (but I went back to work as I'm the main earner when the twins were 20 weeks) - monthly repayments a hell of a lot more manageable - it's all going in the HMRC tax free account which tops it up by another 25%

Glad to find this thread! Found out at 9 weeks that we are expecting twins and have a 2 1/2 year old DD. Just had a scan yesterday at 11w and they said couldn't be sure but think they are identical, tbc with a consultant next week, so looks like a lot of scans and hospital visits are upcoming for us! It's scary and exciting all at the same time, logistically will be a complete nightmare (house, car, nursery, just about to start a new business too!) but having had a molar pregnancy 6 months ago am feeling grateful and hopeful that all goes well for the rest of the pregnancy. Hope the same for all of us!
