When did you buy your pram?

Hi,

Expecting ID twins end of Feb. I am currently 16wks and just started looking around for travel systems.

I just want to know from other expecting mums of twins when you purchased your pram?

Is 16wks too early to buy and when is it too late?

Thank you 😊

Depends on what pram you want and what's in stock.

Online some do next day delivery

Some have a usual wait time of around 4 weeks

However be warned roams especially if you are having bundles and colours etc can take up to 12 weeks to arrive

So just bare that in mind

Strangevipers · 09/10/2021 22:48

*some not roams

I ordered mine at 17 weeks
Mamas and papas, they keep it for you until nearer the time. Got mine delivered at about 35 weeks.

Glassofshloer · 09/10/2021 22:53

I think we got ours at 28ish weeks.

I would say wait until after the anomaly scan at least, just to be on the safe side.

@Strangevipers Wow! 12 weeks to arrive... I have been looking at this family run business who do secondhand and they get double buggies from time to time but then car seats and carrycots I will have to buy separately online as they don't always have a full system on sale.

They currently had 2 in stock of the brand I was interested in and they sold within a week.

So just wondering if I am missing out or should wait a while?

@RainyDayzs thank you for your reply.

@Glassofshloer thank you, maybe I should wait until 20 week scan. IVF twins here after trying for 3 years, I'm scared to buy things too early as I don't want to jinx anything!

Left mine too late and it arrived six weeks after the babies did.

I didn’t buy anything till 30 weeks so as not yo tempt fate. This was probably too cautious.

mobear · 09/10/2021 23:14

28 weeks, but I felt a bit anxious I'd left it too late, particularly since I knew there were delays with the pram I wanted.

lisaandalan · 09/10/2021 23:34

ABC Adventure Buggies, really strong and sturdy and can be converted to a triple if need be.

I would give the company a ring and ask them there usual time to order their roams and delivery options and go from there

How exciting! And twins as well - how lovely. I know what you mean about jinxing things even though it makes zero sense!

Out of nosiness which pram do you think you’ll go for?

GreenShades · 10/10/2021 06:24

@Glassofshloer thank you!
Looking at the mountain buggy duet as on the Twins Trust forum this is the one they always seem to recommend.

I can’t remember exactly but I think it was actually after they were born, as we knew we wouldn’t be going out for a few weeks anyway. The only thing we got was car seats.

100% highly recommend a mountain buggy double one with the twin cocoon thing (the big one where as newborns they go in together). It’s great and I have no problem getting around in our village with lots of awkward pavements! That pram is a game changer, they love napping in it and you can get through normal doors no problem!! - million times better than the crappy silver cross we had for our singleton.

GreenShades · 11/10/2021 12:41

@Theraindropss great! Thank you for the advice. I saw the single carrycot for twins and thought it's really good, better than fiddling about trying to get 2 on pram

I got the Mountain Buggy Duet about a month before my scheduled c section date, when I was about 32 weeks. I had a complicated pregnancy with my MCDA girls, and was terrified of jinxing things! Bought literally nothing at all until 30 weeks. It made the last few weeks more exciting but also a bit more stressful!

Highly recommend the Duet, I'm so glad I chose it. I also highly recommend having twins, it's the best thing ever and I feel so blessed to have them. Good luck Smile

AugustSeptemberOctober · 11/10/2021 12:59

Ooh, also, I got £100 off the buggy! John Lewis do a price match, and I found it for £500 somewhere else... I can't remember where now though sorry! I will try to have a think.

Theraindropss · 11/10/2021 13:58

Glad others have got on well with mountain buggy too!

Another twin purchase I highly recommend a feeding cushion. I got a twin one cheap off eBay and that along with the pram are my best twin purchases. Great for breastfeeding, double bottle feeding or just a comfy place to put them. Smile

Congratulations again and take care of yourself as it isn’t an easy pregnancy!
