What would be a good present to get newborn twins?

My dear friend has just had twins! She’s already got two children, so will have a lot of stuff already. I’m trying to think of a good gift for the new babies... any ideas to help me out?!

Keep sake or not? Nice blanket each or framed initial for their bedroom.. Ds got a Steiff bear in a suitcase - we both love it!

Depends on what sort of gift you want to get.

Sentimental - then maybe a nice Teddy bear each or a lovely set of books for them to use when older.

Practical - Clothes in a 1 or 2 sizes bigger is always good. A lovely set of childs farm baby stuff is amazing, or Matchstick monkey teethers for when they are a little bit older. These keep my twins entertained for ages and were a life saver.

Gifts for the parents - takeaway voucher. When my twins arrived it felt like we lived off biscuits and snacks for ages as were didnt get to cook. A lovely takeaway would have been a god send.

In those circumstances, I think the best present would be practical help eg a meal for the family.

I agree with @Neolara. We were inundated with lovely presents for our twins but didn’t have any family support or practical help and a couple of meals for the freezer would have been amazing.

I agree, takeaway gift for parents and siblings would be a good idea, and maybe token present for babies.

Maybe do a gift hamper with lots of things in it - baby shampoo, small toy, toiletries for mum, chocolates, etc.

I generally buy new horns a nice book like Alice or Wind in the Willows. Even a Complete Shakespeare.

My friends clubbed together and set us up for meal delivery from Cook for six weeks. IIt was the present we appreciated most.

We were inundated with baby stuff but practical was the best.

Nice ready meals! The gifts we got for the babies were beautiful and sent with love, but (and I really don’t mean to sound ungrateful) it was a pain in the arse sorting them all out whilst battling newborn twins/hormones/recovering from delivery and pregnancy.

Food that was delivered to the house that could be slung straight in the freezer and popped in the oven would’ve been amazing and snacks. All the snacks. Instead, we were out shopping 5 days pp as the babies were born as a surprise and we had nothing in!

Or if they haven’t got it, amazon prime membership. That was a godsend at the time - the bottles we had one baby couldn’t get on with, the microwave steriliser didn’t fit our microwave etc etc.

A takeaway voucher for the parents and some lovely muslin cloths for the babies

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 25/02/2021 08:55

If she already has children then she'll have tons of baby clothes etc so I think the suggestions above of food etc will probably be the most useful!

nomorespaghetti · 25/02/2021 21:18

Thanks so much all. I love the idea of a special little Teddy for each of them, and also a takeaway voucher! That is genius!

I would say a jellycat teddy for each twin and a load of snacks for the parents! X
